I don't agree with you either POP
How do you even know what type of player Morgan is? Also, Do you think Gansey could play in a run&gun style offense, well, Benson is the same type of player. He has fundamentals, a good shot, and most of all a lot of heart. He should have started last year under Sol's sorry system. Any team could use a player like him.
No reason for all the negativity on the 2 of them

Why no mention of Matt Morgan? Did I miss something? From Vinny's Blog: Matt Morgan I received an email today reminding me that I forgot to mention freshman Matt Morgan in the newcomers outlook. I apologize. Anyways, Relph was pretty impressed with Morgan's outside shooting ability. And remember, Morgan is 6-8. It sounds like he'll be able to stretch defenses and create mismatches. That being said, I understand Morgan to be a project. Don't expect him to play much in his initial season, especially considering Mike Lee, Da'Quan Cook and D'Lancy Carter are ahead on the depth chart. 2 of those players haven't even started there first semesters yet much less started the season (October 12th) or played a game and already he's behind them in the depth chart? Benson will not be effective or have a role..... are we getting ahead of ourselves a little ...... why not let school start, set the roster, let the players & coaches get to know each other and progress as a team and I'm sure it will sort itself out on the court, in the locker room, in the coaches meetings, etc..

No reason for all the negativity on the 2 of them First off, Pop Haley is probably one of the biggest Benson fans going, so I don't think he's being negative. I think he's stating Benson may struggle in this type of system, especially with the addition of quicker and more athletic players. I think Benson will have a solid role on this team, however. That being said, and as much as I DESPISE Mike Pansey, Benson isn't a tenth of the player Pansey is, so I don't really see a comparison, except for the fact they are both white. I think they end there.

Benson is deffinitly a guy who feel threw the cracks with Solomon. I got sick of hearing all these chants for a stiff like Kaba while Benson a much more talented played pretty much rode the pines. I hope he has more playing time under Schmidt.

I might have got a little ahead of myself. Don't get my wrong, Tyler Benson is by far my favorite player on this team, and has been since I saw him working out 3 falls ago in the RC. I thought he should have seen much more time than he did last year. And I hope that he sees more time this year. I just don't know if that is going to happen in Schmidts system. Thats all. I get the impression that Schmidt likes the smaller, quicker, and athletic guards who can press and trap. I hope that clears it up.
On a side note. Coach, you need to not make comparisons based on the color of ones skin. With all due respect to Tyler Benson. Tyler Benson is not Mike Gansey. Mike Gansey is not 6-7 he is 6-4. Just because they are WHITE BOYS doesn't mean they are the SAME PLAYER. You sound ignorant. Gansey was a guy who got to the rim on a regular basis as well as a shooter. That was his game. Tyler Benson is not a slasher, he is a spot up bomber. Yes they are both hustlers I see that comparison, yes they are both white boys, I see that comparison, but that is about as far as it goes. Can we please not compare Mike Gansey to Tyler Benson. TWO DIFFERENT PLAYERS.

Unless they sign a couple more players they only have 9 scholarships on the roster. If Benson & Morgan don't get some playing time they will only have 7 players seeing any significant playing time and with coach Schmidts run & gun style there will be some tired players out there sucking wind. I think they will see some time and make a contribution to this team. Sounds like Morgan can hit from 3 pt. land and we know Benson is a shooter. They can be good zone busters if they hit consistantly from long range. I don't know about Morgan becaus I haven't seen him play yet, but I'm impressed with Bensons hustle and his scrappy type play, you can always use a guy with his scrappiness.

It's been discussed at length in other threads and pretty well established that we're adding a player or two. Announcments pending...
