Forget about if the Princeton Review is accurate or not forget about if the station plays bad music or has poor programming, SBU just got #1 radio station in the country and at Bonaventure getting #1 in even NY state in anything is a rarity so I would stop complaining and take any good news you can. Personally I don't love the radio station but if what they are doing gets them a #1 ranking and it helps bring in more students or at least puts a positive light on the school I will keep my compplaints to myself and so should the rest of you.

I've never heard so many people complain about something as positive as this before. The fact that St. Bonaventure is on the Princeton Review's list of the 366 Best Colleges in the country is an accomplishment. Many schools don't make it on this list and it is only those schools that are ranked on things such as ....best radio station, biggest party school, best newspaper...... The Buzz is not just a radio station, it is one of the best organizations on campus. It provides something for students to do besides drinking. They plan concerts and I think they help raise money for cancer. I'm happy for the university and the students who work at The Buzz. Good job.

wsbu IS the best organization on campus. period. Anyone can join. It doesn't matter if you're a J. major or any other major.
There is no other organization on campus that lets the students express their feelings like the Buzz. After all, music is one of the best expressions of any human's feelings.
Don't let your tastes in music determine if The Buzz is a good radio station or if the artists they play are good or bad. I don't like country, but I will not deny the fact that there are some pretty talented country musicians.

Bonasfan as much as I love the pub that this brings to our school. I have to disagree with you just a tad.. a) The buzz sucks. The only time the buzz is good is on a Fri/ Sat afternoon when they music to pump up the student body to get wasted. b) Comments such as these: "It provides something for students to do besides drinking." make no sense. Students drink to the buzz. We drink to Ryan McCarthy dishing shout outs to big "retchless" on the way to ellicottville/ blackout. As much as I love the publicity that this brings to our school, which I do. Its great. In no way does this provide something to Bonas students besides drinking. Why cant we all just accept the fact that Bonas is a party school. BECAUSE WE ARE. ACCEPT IT. Christ o' mighty. go bonas. coach schmidt rules

PopHaley, What I mean by "It provides something for students to do besides drinking," is instead of drinking they could be hosting a radio show, working in one of the departments associated with the Buzz, or attending a concert organized by The Buzz. I agree that Bonas is a party school but that's besides the point and I never said it wasn't. I just mean that The Buzz is one of the most positive organizations on campus. I'm sorry that you're not a fan of alternative rock but I'd be willing to bet that most people at Bonas are.

I hosted a show on the buzz my sophomore year. It was 4-6 on a Saturday. Boy, did we get drunk in that radio booth.

I have to disagree with the idea that it gives students an alternative to drinking. There are what three maybe four students max working in the booth at one time. The only good show on the station this past year was on Sunday nights from 10-12 when Sam and and Andrew were on. ("shake your va*ina Sam")

Sorry, That's odd, I could have sworn that I remember kids running around the streets of Allegany like their hair is on fire. I've visited many schools, and none of them touch the intensity of Bona on the weekends.

Who was it that said:"There is no such thing as bad press"? Here our school gets good ink and we are slamming it! I don't know if WSBU has a good format or bad, good on air talent or bad, etc. But apparently some entity who presumes to be in a position to judge so thinks it's pretty good. We need to take all the good press and work it towards bettering the whole school. Heck, the only time I ever listened to WOFM was during the MCMM and only then to find out what foolish stunt was being pulled to raise $$ for charity.

Whether a radio station or any student life organization, if you call yourself "The Buzz," I'm pretty sure you don't exist as an alternative to drinking. Anyone with a clue knows the same applies to WSBU.

This is how it works. Corporate America is contacted by thousands of college students from hundreds of universities seeking employment. Most of the these young adults have satifacory GPAs. This demonstrates that they can learn. However, what has become increasingly more important is an individual that can work in a team environment with a diverse group of people and make it work. In other words take a project and make it better. Improvement is a direct correlation to increasing the bottom line. When we hire college students we look for bright, well rounded, motivated individuals with character committed to improving themselves and the people around them. We don't care if that is a radio station, basketball team, chess club or volunteer fire dept.
The staff of the Buzz has shed a positive light on St. Bonaventure. There entire team is to be commended for their effort. They should all be very proud. This is an eye catcher on a resume. I would encourage all of the serious students at St. Bonas to engage and endear the other clubs, organizations, teams to make your University better. You will be signiing the paychecks of all the naysayers that critique you.

Johnconn,
Where do "New England Snobs" and "Old White" factor into your hiring process?
