So, I am returning to RI from a business meeting in Westchester late afternoon yesterday. I 95 northbound is a parking lot with stop and go traffic just creeping in all 3 lanes. I am somewhere in the Fairfield area.
Something catches my eye and I look out the passenger window to a man in the lane to my left signaling me to roll down my window.
As the window cranks down, he yells, "St. Bonnies?"
"Yeah," I reply.
"'71!," he says.
I shout back, "'77!"
He gives a thumbs up. Traffic starts rolling again in all lanes and we both move forward. I lost sight of him in traffic and never saw his car again.
He could have picked me out either from the window sticker or from my license plate.
Thanks, anonymous '71, for putting a big smile on my face for the rest of the ride home.
PS - the traffic was pretty lousy all the way through New Haven.

It is a small Bona world. I recently resigned from a company and was notifying some associates on how to contact me in the future with my email address (which has "bonnies" in it) and more than one associate mentioned - do you know so and so, he went to SBU. And wouldn't you know it, I knew the person.

Ocean, I work in New Haven and let me tell you I-95 is a mess. A supposed 10 yr project. Anyway I have a Bills license plate frame and my St Bonnies sticker and I can't tell you how often I get to meet people who know the school or attended. I hope you don't have to make too many trips down this way as it will only get worse now that school is open!

Throwing in my $0.02 from the olden days.
I had just moved from Philly to NYC and worked in the Wall St. area.
It was pouring down rain as I was walking to work down Wall St. with my opened umbrella on front of me to keep the rain out of my face.
WHAM!
My umbrella collided with one going in the opposite direction.
The other person and I looked at each other.
We were classmates at Bonas only a few years earlier.
It is a very small world.

This is from the So Cal Kid " I was in bumper to bumper traffic on the stinkiin 91 Freeway and a car with a NY plate slowly goes by me. I see a Bradford, PA dealers sticker on the trunk. So I rolled down the window and shouted " are you from Olean? " He said " yes "! So I asked him if he knew the Friar? Yes, he said, I went to OHS with him". So Cal said that over the 30 years he lived out there on many occasions he would run into Oleanders, former SBU students and beautieful woman.

Just started a new job at Medaille College and commented to a staff member on the outstanding condition of the residence halls as I departed this afternoon. Long story short, he was a '60 grad and friends with Sam and Tom Stith. The guy keeps in touch with Sam and treasures the area upon annual visits. (I had to explain why Pasta Luigi closed.) We shared stories of Good Journeys of yesteryear, in paricular him lending Sam a diagram of the insides of a frog, which came in handy during a biology quiz. "Don't worry, they won't say nothing," Sam said.
They didn't. Go Bona's!

Darn, I'm in the airport right now eventually on my way to Brazil but nobody has mentioned my SBU shirt.
I had a connecting flight in Charlotte airport a month ago heading to Puerto Rico and saw a guy wearing an an Angee's tshirt, he was waiting for a flight to Buffalo. Turns out he's from Seattle and that's the name of his daughter's softball team. Buffalo was just a connection on his way to NYC, so he had no idea what I was talking about. He did have a nice mullet though. I assume he was flying standby and not first class, who connects in Buffalo when going from Charlotte to NYC?

I ran into the neice of the owner of the Burton(Pattie?) in York,Me one night about 10 years ago as I was watching the Red Sox beat up on the Yankees. Very charming indeed.
Mangham....what's your favorite pizza in New Haven? I've been to Pepe's.

Chaz,
believe it or not Modern Pizza on State St. All of the out of towners flock to Wooster St (pepe's sally's) but the best pizza is either at Modern, or a place called Bar on Crown St.

Mashed potato pizza? Sounds like something you would wash down with a garlic milkshake. <G>

It truly is a small world when it comes to Bonnies. Today at Saratoga Race Track, I am sitting on a lawn chair in the backyard and suddenly Dave Whalen from Buffalo (Bona grad) stops by and says hello. His wife is also a Bonnie grad and she's at the track. A few minutes later, Pete Molloy from Saratoga stops to say hello with his wife. They are Bonnie grads. Tomorrow, Jim Healy another grad is supposed to arrive. None of us knew we'd be there...but we found each other. So, off we went to Siro's and the waitress is walking by...she stops...she looks. She says, so that shirt - Bona Venture Stables...I go to Saint Bonaventure University! She's a Whalen (no relation to Dave) but she is a member of the swimming and diving team. Small world.

I vote Sally's but you can't beat Pepe's fresh clam pizza & they opened a second in Fairfield. How about Louie's lunch for hamburgers(no cheeseburgers allowed). Jim62 sounds like we work near each other. I'm on Old Slip.

In the Miami airport today after being in town to close a multi-mill deal and a guy asked me about my SBU duffel bag. Turns out he's a grad of 85. He is now aware of the bandwagon, so "Arthur", if you are reading this...welcome to the bandwagon.
