Roseboro said he's considering Temple, St. Bonaventure, Rhode Island and Nevada at this point, but because of the timing of the decision it wouldn't be a surprise to see him wind up at either Temple or St. Bonaventure, both of which are located relatively close to Quakertown. The author of that article ought to bone up on his geography. Kingston, RI is closer to Quakertown than is Olean. Not by all that much, but it is. Maybe he's confusing St. Bona with St. Joe's.

Here is a video of an interview with Brett at the Philly Super 60 Showcase. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM3CENGKtUkPhiily Hoops ranked him as the 7th best player at this 5 star basketball camp. Following are comments from Philly Hoops. Among the bigs and in betweens, the day was marked by high fliers led by Jalen Bond, Rakeem “all I want for” Christmas, and Brett “not Favre” Roseboro. Christmas’ upside is the heavenly stars. I would not be surprised if I hear his name called on draft night one day if he continues to improve. Roseboro is probably the most complete, with a series of post moves both facing the basket and with his back to the basket. Best of all he uses both hands well…how refreshing. phillyhoops.wordpress.com/2008/11/22/super-60-showcase-event-notes-top-10/How good of a shooter is 6'10" Brett Roseboro? Check out this comment from Keith Pompey (covers high school basketball for Philadelphia Inquirer). Shooting stars. Wyatt is not the only SOL player with deadly range. Quakertown senior forward Brett Roseboro, Central Bucks South senior swingman Will Barrett and Pepper are all among Southeastern Pennsylvania’s best outside shooters. - Keith Pompey phillyhoops.wordpress.com/2008/12/07/boys-notebook-4/

After reading a bunch of reports on this kid, I am not completely sold on him. It sounds as if he wouldn't even sniff the court at Marquette, so I think we should settle our excitement a tad.
With that said, he does have upside and would be a huge relief on Nicholson. Part of the reason Nicholson was able to excel last year was Thomas. Thomas was physically stronger and was capable of huge games i.e. Richmond 25pts / 11 boards, which caused opposing D's to not cheat.
Now that Thomas is gone, we need another big body in there to take some of the heat off Nicholson and Roseboro looks to be that guy. And not to sell Roseboro short, Nicholson will allow him space to get the job done as well. This is a win-win combo here and could possibly be our best mix in the middle since the Cyrus/PVP days. We can only hope.
And this is not a slight on some of our other big men, but I personally never saw them as big-time players like Nicholson [to be fair, how many are?]

Sniffing the court at Marquette in the Big East is much different than the A-10.

Wait, what? so you're saying a player who gets almost zero playing time in the BE/Marq is way above a player who sees the court in the A10? agree to disagree. he even said himself it was made abundantly clear he wasn't going to see the floor. with that said, let's sign him, big upside here!

Yes the Big East is much better than the A-10. Just take a look at the lottery pick match-ups between the two conferences. It is much easier to break through as a big man in the A-10 than the Big East, where you don't face Top 10 big men almost every night.

Thank you for the news flash that the BE is better than the A10. You missed my point though.

My point is that its easier to get buried in the Big East than in the A-10. Its no knock on talent it just happens to people and it was smart for him to get out before his eligbility started diminishing...

Can anybody dig up some of Roseboro's stats from last season? My limited research has him averaging 12 pts, 10 reb, 3.5 blocks his junior season for a mediocre Quakertown team.

Can anybody dig up some of Roseboro's stats from last season? My limited research has him averaging 12 pts, 10 reb, 3.5 blocks his junior season for a mediocre Quakertown team. This season he averaged 14 points and 14 rebounds for another mediocre Quakertown team. The stats are misleading, because his team only averaged like 48 points a game. Brett scored almost a third of his team's points. Another factor is he faced double and triple team as he was the only offensive threat on his team. A much better indicator is his performances at high profile camps. Such as the Philly Super 60 Showcase where he was competing against 4 and 5 star recruits and he was ranked 7th at the conclusion of the camp. Or the his performance at the prestigious IS8/Nike Tip-Off Classic. Here he is competing against the best players in the nation and he scores 27 points against Maryland bound James Padgett. His performance in these events is what made him into a high major recruit. There were other BCS schools that were offering a scholarship, but unlike Marquette they wanted him to red shirt a year for development. They were correct and Marquette was wrong, which becomes a huge signing for the Bonnies.

Caswell Cyrus is another big man that "wouldn't even sniff the court" as a freshman at a BCS school. Like Roseboro, BCS schools wanted Caswell to redshirt his freshman year, which is a big reason he signed with the Bonnies. We can only hope Brett has a Bonnie career equal to Caswell's.

I will trust Schmidt's judgement on this. It's obvious to me that we are not looking to get stuck on a 15 win plateau even for a year. Schmidt will have the Bonnies ready to compete in the A10 on a yearly basis. Here is what I see. For years we always had problems recruiting big men and he seems to have overcome that. I think the kids that have signed on are sensing the opportunity to be a part of something special. When I look at where our program has been under VBK and then Solomon, I like what I see under Mark. The Bonnies seem to have plenty of depth and should be much improved. I think you will see some kind of homecourt win streak this season that will make people remember how it was to come to Olean to play. Nicholson will have alot of help and with a year under his belt will show that his first year was just the tip of the iceberg. Malcolm Eleby will develop an outside shot and the 2 years of play under his belt will pay huge dividends. I may be a bit optimistic but I see 21 wins this year with the Bonnies making a real statement in league play.
