maybe Im alone on this one, but I sure would like to see Davenport and Ogo start, have Eleby and Cook off the bench, we need our best players on the court as much as possible! As you can tell, going along with posts I had made in the past, I am not an Eleby fan AT ALL!

Simply put, Schmidt knows what he is doing.

Who cares which players start? Why does it matter? Davenport and Ogo see plenty of minutes.

I think Eleby has played pretty well this year. But more to the point what does calling him out on a message board accomplish? whether you like it or not, he is going to see significant minutes this year.
Lets go Bona's

Apparently we have plenty of contributors to this board that feel that they are more qualified than Mark Schmidt to make coaching decisions.

Davenport did start the last game and I'm sure he'll start many more. Ogo is not that much better than Eleby, so which one starts is not a big deal at this point.

I kind of like the small starting lineup last night. Davenport is looking like he may be the great number 2 to go along with Nicholson over the next few years and he deserves the increase in mins.

I liked Davenport's game last night. He seems to have a rebounding instinct for position.

Michael is great against small lineups like last night, but is a 6'5" PF (Hall) big enough for conference games? With his recent play, Marquise Simmons is starting to look like the best PF on the team: Marquise has about half the playing time of Da'Quan (18.1 minutes to 9.6), but look at the stats: 1. Marquise is 2nd on the team with 30 rebounds, which is twice as many rebounds as Da'Quan at 15. 2. Despite playing 68 less minutes than Da'Quan, Marquise has scored only 5 less points. 3. With only 9.6 minutes ppg. Marquise is 2nd on the team with 3 blocks. Da'Quan has not blocked a shot this season. 4. Like Da'Quan Marquise has been solid shooting from the field by hitting 47.8% of his shots from the field. www.gobonnies.com/sports/m-baskbl/2009-10/files/teamcume.htm

Great points, Chuck! 'Wouldn't be surprised to see Marquise starting at least by the time the conference schedule starts if not before....

Ogo is not that much better than Eleby, so which one starts is not a big deal at this point. Nobody else catch this? Umm, yes, it is important.Very important. Especially as Ogo develops a comfort level with the D-I game, I'd say this is a pretty damn big turn in our season. He's not Kenny Anderson or anything, but it's getting obvious who's our better option at PG. Takes care of the ball, can create off dribble, hits FT's, the occasional 3-PT threat, occasionally acts like a lead guard in leading an offense ... I'm not talking about Eleby here. Thankfully, I think Schmidt gets the drift.

no one that posts on this board can compete on the level of Malcom or Ogo. Do they make mistakes, make turn overs, miss 3's, dont see the guy cutting to the basket? YES. IT IS THE COACHS JOB TO PLAY THE HAND THEY ARE DELT.
It's Schmitty's job to make the adjustments and alter SBU's attack.

I did not and am not questioning Coaches ability or decision making! I simply stated that I believe Ogo and Davenport have proven to be better options at this point! Ogo is not an all conference PG but does provide more quickness and at least an offensive threat so the opposing teams cant just collapse down low! Why not start your best 5 players, it is always very beneficial to get out to an early lead and not play catch up after the first 7 minutes of the game! As far as Davenport, he is only a sophmore, yet maybe our most talented player on the team, as an all around player he is not that far behing Andrew.

Ogo is a complement to Malcom. Malcom is a 6'3" point that will defend the bigger point guards that come with lleague play. Ogo has his pluses but is 4 inches shorter. The coach understands their value....In Schmidt we trust!

Malcolm has been a play maker for the team. He is currently 4th in the A-10 in assists per game. Malcolm's style of play is completely different from last year. Last year he was a passive distributor and this year he has been aggressive in taking it to the basket, which is reflected by his assists and leading Bonnies in free throw attempts. Malcolm has 10 more free throws than Andrew, who is 2nd on the team in FTA. Malcolm has shown significant improvement over last year. Malcolm is an important part to the Bonnies offense. With Malcolm's improvement, he still lacks a shot from the perimeter and his 1.4 assist/turnover ratio is at the bottom for starting A-10 point guards. Ogo actually has worse stats in regards to being a play making point with a 1.2 assist/turnover ratio. Ogo has only 3 games where he had more assists than turnovers and 2 of these games were against weaker opponents (Binghamton and D-II LeMoyne). What Ogo provides the team is a scoring point from the perimeter. Schmidt needs contributions from both Malcolm and Ogo, because they provide different skills to the point guard position. www.gobonnies.com/sports/m-baskbl/2009-10/files/teamcume.htmwww.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/players/playerpage/1715925/ogo-adegboye
