Just curious, did anybody notice if the Democrat & Chronicle, USA Today, or the Buffalo News report that Crowley had been reinstated? All made a point to report that he was put on leave. Bona put out a press release regarding the matter.
I guess the fact that he was reinstated was not sexy enough to print. I thought journalism was supposed to be "objective."

I wouldn't even say it's a matter of objectivity. It just lends credence to the fact that SBU and its administration really dropped the ball on this one and ruined a man's reputation and possibly career.

By objectivity, I meant that the media should at least follow the story and print it as it evolves. As opposed to simply printing the "juicy" aspects of a story when it relates to character and reputation.
SBU did what it had to do. It followed an investigative process while clearly indicating that there was no presumption of guilt from the outset. One can't blame SBU for appearing hyper-vigilant given the litigious events of the past 10 years.

This whole thing was handled poorly from the outset. From what I understand, Crowley was never accused of ANY wrongdoing, yet was put on administrative leave as if he were being investigated. Absurd.

I think that you are right. The PR that the school has been receiving and putting out as of late has been pretty bad and now the Crowley situation. If it is true that Crowley was never charged in the first place but Bona put him on leave anyway then Bona has placed a stain on the reputation of Jim Crowley for nothing. I did not read anything in the USAToday yesterday like I did a week ago when they reported that Crowley was place on leave for possible harassment. There had to be a better way to handle this matter than the way they did. Of course the assistant coach is still in limbo until Bona makes a decision about him.

You are all right - VERY poorly handled. Hope this doesn't result in MORE litigation against the University.

I'm happy to note that today's USA Today had a blurb regarding Crowley's reinstatement and the ongoing inquiry regarding Young.

I saw a story on the reinstatement a few days ago on Channel 2.
