I didn't make the connection between Woods and Mitchell. Lets hope he's half the player for the men she was for the women. Neither did I......and with Gathers gone, Derrick can wear #5.

Jayson Brower is about to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his high school career and he is only 72 points away from becoming the all-time career scoring leader at Syracuse Academy of Science. Brower has athletic bloodlines. His uncle, Derek Brower, was a member of Syracuse University’s 1987 final four basketball team. Another uncle, Jason Brower, and his father, Chris, played basketball at St. Bonaventure. Brower is also a cousin of current San Antonio Spurs small forward Danny Green and his younger brother, Devonte Green, a star at high school basketball power Long Island Lutheran. “When I go down there to visit, me and him compete,” Brower said of the younger Green, who as a junior already is drawing major-college interest. Brower has several colleges looking at him, including Colgate, St. Bonaventure and Marist. He is a 3.5 GPA student at SAS.Jayson Brower is a sure bet to surpass the 1,000-point mark this season. The 6-foot-3 senior at Syracuse Academy of Science, who averages 21.4 points per game, is poised to reach that plateau either tonight at home, against Solvay, or Wednesday at Jordan-Elbridge. Brower has 977 points. And Brower needs only to average 12 points per game to over his final six catch SAS all-time career scorer Kaleel Johnson, who graduated with 1,047 points. But ask Brower about his main goals is this season, and he talks about winning the big one. “Probably our biggest goal is to get by Westhill,” Brower said. “We always play great against them in the first half, but then ... That’s a great team and it would be awesome to beat them.” That’s easier said than done against the No. 1 state-ranked Warriors, who are 41-1 over the past two seasons. SAS has had five cracks at Westhill in that time. The closest the Atoms have come to defeating the Warriors was a 20-point loss in last year’s Class B sectional quarterfinals. If Brower and the Atoms are to get another shot at the Warriors this year, it would have to come in next month's sectional playoffs. Brower, a two-year starter for the Atoms is the key to the team’s success this season. He leads SAS in every statistical category except assists and 3-point shooting. “He’s really athletic. Wherever we need him, he can play,” said Atoms coach Onur Gokce. Brower, who played at Baldwinsville as a freshman and sophomore, has athletic bloodlines. Gokce said Brower has several colleges looking at him, including Colgate, St. Bonaventure and Marist. He is a 3.5 GPA student at SAS. NOTE: Jayson scored exactly 23 points tonight against Solvay to reach 1,000 points for his career. highschoolsports.syracuse.com/news/article/6998695236593428464/jayson-brower-of-sas-about-to-reach-milestone-but-the-big-prize-would-be-win-over-westhill/

Key word is "tentative" plans to visit Pitt. Let's hope the staff can lock him up this weekend so he never makes it to Pitt.

All smiles boys - oh Canada !!!!!! Maybe he does not visit alone.... multiple targets up there,,,
We are a great fit for him - he can get 120 starts like Andrew did. Andrew never took a 3pt shot his first 2 years (60 starts) but developed it in his last two years (starts 60-120) - and that outside shot is a big reason he was drafted in the NBA at #19 in the world.
That would never have happened had he gone to a Syracuse where he may have had 50 starts for his career.
And his family can witness much of his career in person ! Lets hope it happens and we see a win-win situation !

jh…...You mention some significant factors that may play large in the decision to be made by Kyle & his family to become a student athlete at Bona.
I’m excited about the prospect of Kyle becoming a star at Bona on the scale his sister Kayla was at Syracuse before going to the WNBA in the first round # 8. Kayla was stellar at Cuse, setting records as all time high scorer & 2nd best rebounder. I’m sure the Alexander family will always have fond memories of attending her games. They know well how fast those 4 college years fly by.
Coach Schmidt & staff recognized Kyle’s talents & potential before schools now showing interest. Andrew Nicholson came in as a frosh demonstrating great shot blocking skills and steadily developed an offensive game under the direction of Bona staff, leading to the First Round NBA.
Kyle has the potential to become a star in the A10 at Bona and at the next level. His opportunities as a Bonnie would be unmatched. I wish the Alexander family all the best in making their decision. Kyle playing in the Enchanted Mts on Bob Lanier Court would be a remarkably good match to nurture his God given talent.

Just a quick reminder - he is #24 www.courtsidefilms.com/news_article/show/461266ZAGS Blog Kyle Alexander, a 6-foot-10 2015 forward from Orangeville Prep in Ontario, will visit St. Bonaventure this weekend and Pittsburgh Feb. 13-14, his father, Joseph Alexander, told SNY.tv. He’s also hearing from Texas, Wake Forest, Rhode Island, Old Dominion, Rice, UCSB, Arkansas, Duke and others. “Quite a few schools are interested in Kyle,” he said. Alexander, who plays alongside Thon Maker and Jamal Murray, is currently out with a fractured wrist he suffered last month. “He’s 6-10 with a 7-4 wingspan,” Orangeville Prep coach Larry Blunt previously told SNY.tv. “He runs faster than our guards and has a knack for blocking shots. His dad was a Division 1 1,000-point scorer and his sister was an All-American at Syracuse and a first-round draft pick in the WNBA. The kid has been playing basketball for three years and his potential is scary.”

Further proof we are on the right track having our assistant coach Jerome Robinson working Toronto
Last year, Canada reached a high of 104 players in NCAA Division one basketball, several of them being impact pieces to programs from low to the high major levels.
Names such as Andrew Wiggins, Nik Stauskas, Tyler Ennis, Dwight Powell, Sim Bhullar and Brady Heslip moved on to the NBA, while several others continue their basketball careers, signing professional contracts overseas.
For the 2014-2015 season, we at North Pole Hoops have compiled an up-to-date list of Canadians in the NCAA, that currently stands at 105–one higher than last year.
The Canadian Invasion in NCAA basketball will hold strong as seniors will make their mark on the National stage, big time transfers will settlle in, while newcomer freshman look to make their mark! Regional Break Down
Ontario – accounted for 66 of the 104 players

Given the advantage of our proximity to his home, I am pleased and encouraged that the quotes above (from where, by the way, are these from twitter?) say that he AND HIS FAMILY are visiting Bonas. Let's hope the weather cooperates and it is a nice, easy trip to Bonas vs. a "trip from hell" (altho safe) to the 'burg along the lakes or if they take an inland route, they'll note they'll have to go well past Bonas on lesser roads to get down here.
