The 500 number is very significant. Most schools are starting to count total new students as new enrollment as transferring is becoming increasing popular. About a third of college students transfer before graduation, so managing a number like that is significant for the college.

Including those who choose a lower cost 2 year community college option before moving on to their junior/senior years.

OTH article indicated 500 new arrivals on campus - good news. Past disclosures indicated 472 frosh in the pipeline - good news. Certain issues are being made regarding 400 frosh - bad news, that would indicate a drop from last years low frosh count. Not sure where the hard numbers are at this point. Hopefully it is 500.

I my memory is accurate, the Buff News article of a couple of days ago on WNY college enrollments, quoted Sr. Margaret as saying we missed our target by 48 - or a similar amount.
