Wow, Frank. After reading your reports I feel like I was there with you. Great insight. as someone who spent 6 summers at bonas getting my master's degree, i can tell you it's a great place to be instead of the heat/humidity of metro nyc...and having the golf course across the street to play 18 in the afternoons wasn't too shabby, either...if you're an alum and 1 weekend in june for your reunion every 5 years is the extent of your experience at bonas at that time of year, i recommend a road trip to bonas in july...the burton burger is just as delicious in the summer as it is the rest of the year and the beer is just as cold (and tastes better after coming off the links)...thanks, frank...

I have a few questions after watching the players scrimmage. Will the Bonnies be alright if they do not sign another big man that is eligible this season? -- One thing I've learned about Schmidt is his comments turn out to be very accurate. Well he said following about signing another player "we’re comfortable with what we have now. We’re going to continue to recruit, see what else is out there. But I think we have a nucleus that we’re confident in." When specifically asked about signing a big man Schmidt says "“Who knows? “That’s yet to be determined. We’re confident that Jordan is going to be a successful player in our league, and the freshmen that are coming in that they’ll be good players, as well. We’ll see how it goes as we go forward in the next couple of months.” -- As FJS states it appears Derrick Woods will be qualifying. -- LaDarien Griffin has been described as more of a small forward than a big forward, but what I saw LaDarien has the length and athleticism to play in the post. He scored extreme majority of his points in the paint. -- I think Bonnies might be alright in the post with addition of Jordan, Derrick and LaDarien to Dion and Denzel. -- Speaking of Denzel, with his newly acquired jump shot could he become the starting small forward? It looked like Courtney has better ball skills. Cat asked about Kaputo's talent and some wondered if there is enough minutes for him as a backup. -- Unfortunately for Nelson he had Idris guarding him throughout most of the scrimmage. Idris is probably the best man defender on the team and he did not let up with his effort during this scrimmage. Nelson hit a couple jumpers and had a few beautiful drives to the hoop finishing with his left hand (he is a leftie). Most impressive thing about Nelson was him creating open looks and layups for others. -- As for playing time. Dayton started two 6'6" post players with 3 guards, who are 6'4", 6'2" and 6'0". I can easily see all 3 Bonnie guards on the floor at the same time. 80 minutes of PT split among 3 guards is enough PT for Nelson. Even Schmidt stated he thought all 3 players could be out on the floor together. Bonnies look great with terrific trio (Dion, Marcus and Jaylen) but could they have best 6th and 7th men in the A-10? -- Above I wondered if Denzel could be the starting small forward. At the very least he will be the 6th man on this team. Last year Denzel showed a lot of growth. If his shooting continues during the season Denzel might become the best 6th man in the A-10. -- Nelson is by far the highest rated freshman recruit Schmidt has signed. I do not think it would be a stretch to wonder if Nelson could become the top reserve guard in the A-10. www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_b8278432-1888-11e5-a951-2f86d7e17b2b.html

You could easily have Adams and Kaputo on the floor at the same time. In fact, I look forward to it. Its especially interesting because Kaputo is a lefty. You don't even have to have a "PG" etched in stone. Just come down the floor with Adams on the right side and Kaputo on the left. Wow.
Them with Posley on the floor is the backcourt you run with when you need offense during a stretch in games.
When you need stops or maybe after we build a big lead - You could give Posley and one of Adams/Kaputo a rest and roll with a backcourt of say Adams and Taqqee, bring in Gregg at SF and go big

Not surprised to hear Marcus is being a dog. It is time for him to step up and be the leader ON and OFF the floor. Whenever I am around he is messing around. We have a team loaded with talent. Also would like to note that Kaputo is a stud. Will be a huge burst off the bench. He can guard short quick guards, something that Bonas guards have always struggled with. I would love to see this lineup at time...
1. Kaputo 2. Swaggy Jay 3. Posley 4. Gregg 5. Didi Wright
-Yes it is a small lineup but would be really tough to stop with all the motion ball screen stuff Schmidty runs

Saying a player is dogging it in a pickup game after they worked a camp all is day is laugable. It's not practice, it's guys just getting some work in and having fun. Thanks for all the first hand accounts.
