Great foul shooting played an important factor in the last 2 wins where we scored 26 more points from the stripe than our opponents. Against the Griffs, the score was tied with 11:21 to play. 10 of 11 crucial FTs were made by 4 different players. Jay 2-3, Nelson 2-2, Dion 4-4 and Derrick 2-2 (he is 7-8 on the year).
Not many teams in the nation have a TEAM FT% to match our 83%.
Only 9 turn overs was real good to see and I would say that Marcus has restored any confidence he may have lost.

this talk about Marcus losing confidence is ridiculous..... we are a couple games in. he never stopped shooting. the confidence is there its just a matter of him finding his stroke. comes with time. he will be the least of any of our problems this year

Terrific game for the Bonnies. Congratulations to the coaching staff and entire team. I too was thinking Marcus was a man among boys last night, and I was happy to see young Mr. Griffin give us some solid minutes. That was a very important win for the Bonnies, not just for RPI but for what it shows about how Coach is bringing this group along. I'll be happy for a while, at least, and maybe quite a bit during the coming winter.

Have you ever played basketball? Just because he kept shooting doesn't mean he had confidence. There's times when you're feeling it and times when you're not, and theres no getting around it. You try to play your game, but it just isn't working and it can really get to you after a while. You can see it in his play the past two games, especially last night, that he is finally feeling it. His aggressiveness has gone through the roof and he knows he can take just about anyone off the dribble with confidence. Those crossover and behind the back moves last night were incredible. Getting to the line and knocking down 19 of 19 the past two games shows he is getting to the hoop and opening up the outside shot. I agree that he will be the least of our problems this year. It was good to see all three freshmen on the floor together for extended minutes last night in a key point of the game. Woods is going to be a hell of a player and Kaputo is going to be special. Overall I though we played well as a team. Kept the turnovers down and got to the line and made our free throws. Hofstra should be a great game and another good test.

...again, as I've mentioned here a number of times previously, make them from the stripe, and you'll win every close game and be in others that otherwise wouldn't be close!

At 4th in the nation our free throw shooting has been amazing.....interesting one of our upcoming opponents Vermont is 5th. Sorry, this info is not including last night, but by the time you view the link it may be updated.......someone earlier posted we are 2nd www.ncaa.com/stats/basketball-men/d1/current/team/150

Good win for the Bonnies - certainly won't ever discount a win, especially a win on the road. If we can avoid the 2 dreadful losses in the OOC schedule that has plagued this team over the past few seasons, that will be a huge boost come March.
A few observations coming from the first few games of the year: 1) This one goes back to last season, as well, I'd like to see someone else pass the ball in during deadballs - Jay should not. 2) When Idris has the ball dribbling up the court with his head down, I want to scream...happens often when he's in the game 3) A little nervous that we "clicked" against Canisius and only won by 4....again, to Canisius (Posely big game, outrebounded them, low turnovers, held Golden Griffs to low point total) 4) Kuputo needs to be on the court under 4 minutes left in a tight game 5) Loved the changing defenses throughout the game. The 1-3-1 is, and has been over the past few years with Dion at the top, very effective 6) The team can rebound - even playing smaller than opponents. This will be huge as season continues 7) I'm comfortable with Woods and Griffin in the game - freshmen have a ways to go, but can play
Big game against a hard playing Hofstra team coming up. Would be a solid win for the Bonnies - let's keep rolling!

I have to admit I chuckled when in the post game interview on tv Schmidt was talking about the historical importance of the Bonnies / Griffs rivalry, especially to alumni. The best part was when he said, for older alums (like me), we can lose all our A10 games, but if we beat Canisius and Niagara, it was a successful season. Ha.

Great game to watch although it was a slow start. Here are some impressions: - Posely won the battle of the shooting guards 35 to 22 over McMillan. Posely scored from all over the court - underneath, on drives and from three point land too. Posely never lost his composure in this game, even after MacMillan gave him a shove late in the second half - he just brushed it off and kept going...great temper control exhibited there. - CC big men took way too many shots from trey ville, Bleeker, Ryan and Valenti were 0 for 8 beyond the arc. What a mistake -let Mac take those shots. Bleeker could be a huge force, moves well, but is never in the good position. If JB can get him into position he could be a factor in MAAC play. Overall CC will be very competitive in MAC play as long as they can get Valenti and Bleeker untracked, and Mac continues a hot hand. He is also a leader - he is a coach on the floor. - Woods is the real deal, especially for a freshman. He was constantly around the rim deflecting shots. He will be a player we will enjoy for his career. Very intelligent for his age and experience. His surprise development assists in taking pressure off of Wright and Gregg to play the pivot. - Wright played a major role on the boards with 11 rebounds and 13 points. He is as a senior what we had hoped for - a steady and reliable player in the 4 spot. - Gregg's long wing span and heady play is becoming invaluable off the bench. He makes an impact on D and rebounds well. Knows how to position himself. - Caputo gives us needed minutes on the floor in relief. Another frosh who has stepped in and up, and does not miss a beat. Heady beyond his years. - Great team D on Mac - while he still scored 22 - he was harried throughout the game - we always seemed to have a spy on him - good move because this guy can beat you and beat you badly if left alone. - KAC is still a great place to watch a game - no bad seats in this house and close to the action too - but it remains completely inadequate for D1 play. CC needs to build themselves a 5,000 seat field house and soon. This place must be a a recruiter's disaster for major prospects.
To one and all in the Brown and White Club - Enjoy Thanksgiving with friends and family - remember the poor, homeless and needy.

Not only are we fourth in nation in FT%, but Posley is first at 19-19.
Would love to see us going to hoop aggressively to get to the line more, given how well we're shooting from there. This is doubly true of Posley who has the bulk needed to take some extra contact in the paint.

I have heard Coach Schmidt say that a few times before Little 3 games. Of course he can't possibly believe that. If we lose all our A-10 games and beat Canisius and Niagara I am pretty sure he would become former Coach Schmidt. Makes for good copy. Fact of the matter is that Canisius is a good team and Hofstra and Siena are very good teams and wins over these teams will be important going forward.

I doubt he really believes that but in his defense this exact quote has been said by an alum on the bandwagon... "Our team could go 3-25 for a season, and if the wins were over SU, Niagara and Canisius, I would vote for a contract extension for the coach."
