I don't know if anybody else subscribes to The Athletic, my oldest son, who works in sports information at RPI, subscribes and somehow I have access. Anyway there was a story about Kellan Grady that was really interesting. The article starts out with a recent protest in Davidson, NC. On one side the street you have white supremacists and on the other students and faculty from Davidson. Grady is observed as an onlooker, but pretty soon he walks up and gets in the face of one of the supremacists. There is a short video that is liked in the story, Brady tells the guy what he is spewing is not wanted here, the guy comes back at Grady with some derogatory terms, a faculty member comes in to separate them. The story goes on to talk about Grady taking on a leadership role with a non profit that is a group of college athletes that are speaking out on racism and equality. The article goes on to say that the Davidson basketball team took a trip to Poland last summer and I'm thinking play some International competition, see some sights, but they didn't go for basketball, they went to visit several concentration camps and to be educated about the Holocaust. Two of the leaders on the trip noticed at one stop that Grady was hanging back, taking some notes and making a donation to support upkeep for the site. The person authoring the piece then delves into Gardy's family history and one of his grandmothers is from South Africa where she was very active in the Apartied movement. I'm not doing the article justice, and unfortunately I've tried linking stuff I've read in The Athletic and it doesn't work. I'm not saving I love Kellan Grady, but there is no question that he is a competitor and I appreciated the insight into a guy who really does "walk the talk".

Jamion Christian won't be back at George Washington. I thought they made some headway recently, but apparently not enough.

Almost had me, I saw a spiders basketball tweet that looked legit. Grant golden will be returning for a seventh year pursuing his doctorate. Scrolling further became clear that today was indeed April Fools’ Day.

It worked out good for GOLDEN returning. I wonder what % of players exercised their option to return this season. Playing pro aboard in 2021-22 was not very attractive to many. This coming fall will be even less attractive with fewer contracts and lower salaries.

Lasalle to hire alum Fran Dunphey as Head Coach Adam Nelson is also reporting that LaSalle/Dunphey will hire a current D3 Coach as Associate HC I hope this D3 has a lot of sway with Philly and East Coast recruits because while Fran was an excellent coach he is 73 and quite frankly bombed at Temple It is very admirable that Fran steps in after LaSalle struck out in hiring a new coach LaSalle needs to break ground on a replacement arena for Gola in 2023 or lose the $6.2M donated to kick off the project For the A10’s sake let’s hope LaSalle starts to move forward

Interesting, it appears Tre Mitchell is coming back to the A10. Leaving Texas, transferring to Rhode Island.

Can he do that without sitting for a year. Just as Coulibaly will need sit out for a year.

So, if I’m Shoon….. If I’m not drafted, or if I don’t get a good offer to play somewhere….. I come back to Bona……IF Bona has a chance to be good enough to be a top 4 A-10 team. That assures me of a chance to go to the “tourney”. ( And, to be a top 4 A-10 team next year, believe me, you will have to be a pretty good team!) If I don’t think Bona has that opportunity…..I go to a team that I think WILL have a VERY good chance to go to the tourney. Exposure. Opportunities. There are some unknowns, but I believe, for the most part, that Shoon has an idea, the other players have an idea, and coach has idea how this is going to shake out. Six weeks ago I thought they would all leave. Today it’s a different world we live in.
