Bonnies will play five of their first seven games at home
May 26, 2005
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Five home games, a date with West Virginia in Rochester and a trip to the Florida International Tournament highlight the 2005-06 St. Bonaventure University men's basketball non-conference schedule.
The Bonnies will play five of their first seven games of the year at the Reilly Center starting with the season-opener on Nov. 19 against Robert Morris. St. Bonaventure will also entertain Big 4 rival Canisius (Nov. 26), St. Francis of Pa. (Dec. 3), Central Connecticut State (Dec. 5) and Youngstown State (Dec. 10). The Youngstown State game will be a part of doubleheader with the women's team.
Third-year head coach Anthony Solomon's team will play three non-conference games on the road and three more on neutral courts. St. Bonaventure will play at local rival Niagara (Nov. 21), at Toledo (Dec. 17) and at Marist (Dec. 21).
On Nov. 30, the Bonnies will face the surprise team of last year's NCAA Tournament, West Virginia, at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. It will be the second time in as many years the teams have played each other, and it will also mark a homecoming for Bonnies guard Tyler Relph, who was the New York State Player of the Year as a senior at Rochester's McQuaid Jesuit High School. Relph played at West Virginia in 2003-04 before transferring to St. Bonaventure.
Dec. 27 in Miami, Fla., the Bonnies will face Cal State-Fullerton in the opening round of the Florida International Tournament. Texas-San Antonio is the fourth team in the tournament.
The five non-conference home games plus the eight Atlantic 10 Conference home dates gives St. Bonaventure a total of 13 regular season games at its Reilly Center. The Atlantic 10 Conference schedule will be released in September; however, the list of A-10 teams St. Bonaventure will face at home and on the road is as follows: Atlantic 10 Conference HOME games (dates and times TBA): Charlotte, Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Richmond, Temple
Atlantic 10 Conference AWAY games (dates and times TBA): Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, LaSalle, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Saint Louis, Xavier

Excellent job with the schedule ! Students will miss only 1 non-con game (Canisius over Thanksgiving break).

I look at that schedule and believe that there are 12-wins here...it's definetely possible!
The non-conference schedule looks like one of the modest I have ever seen us have.....
Maybe some others with more knowledge of the power rankings of the schools can enlighten us but I see the following as realistic.
-nonconference home: 5-games 4-wins
-nonconference away: 3-games 1-win
-X-mas & neutral site (UWV): 3-games 1-win
-A10 home: 8-games 4-wins
-A10 away: 8-games 2-wins
Total: 27-games 12-wins

Non-conference schedule includes 7 games with Sagarin ratings that were above 200 last year. Really is imperative that this team gets off to a good start next year. Really hope that Relph is going to be available for those games. If he had been on the team last year, I know he would have made a difference against Canisius at the very least where turnovers and the team's poor handling of the press was the difference in the game. If there is improvement, then there is no reason that there might not be 12 wins next year. Would be nice to get off to a 5-2 start next season. Flip side is that if the team loses some of these early season games then it is another long frustrating season
