A 6 9 240 Galin Smith would be an excellent addition to the frontcourt and be able to play the 4 and 5. Do you know of any mutual interest?

More info from the Democrat and Chronicle regarding our walk on
You never know who is willing to take a look. Ask Jermaine Taggart, a two-time Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester basketball player at McQuaid.
Taggart was in search-mode for a place to earn a degree and continue to play in college, when coaches at St. Bonaventure University extended an offer to join the Bonnies in the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference as a walk-on.
When a player makes a decision to play as a walk-on, usually they have traded off aid or scholarship to play at another school. Taggart, 6 foot-4 inches and a three-year varsity player at McQuaid, said he appreciates this link to a team in the top tier of college sports.
St. Bonaventure is described as a mid-major within Division I, a rung or two below Syracuse or powerhouses like Duke and Kansas, and has advanced to three NCAA Tournaments in the last 20 years, including in 2018.
Taggart has found a place in college basketball amid a coronavirus pandemic that has altered recruiting for high school players and college teams at all three levels. Walk-ons at Division I programs generally have a tough road to reach the status of a scholarship player, because their development usually is not a priority.
Taggart knows to stick with the Bonnies, is an obvious challenge.
"'I’m all for it," Taggart said. "It’s all about me, my journey and path, not what everyone else thinks I should do.
"I think I’m going to be really happy at 'Bona."
Taggart will remain at shooting guard, but also knows it's in his best interest to add weight to his 172-pound frame.
"They want me to just come out, just work with the team, try and get better," Taggart said. "This is exciting, to have a coach that wants me for me.
"That’s all it takes, one coach, someone who believes in you."

Two things, one we have way too much debris on this site.
Twitter says that Vladir Manuel has committed to New Mexico, not that we were involved the second or third time around, talented young man, but several posters had indicated there may be some record issues, or why go looking for trouble.

Kordell Charles Update- We were involved very early with an offer. He transferred to IMG Academy in Florida, and last October suffered a slight fracture of the Tibia. Fast forward one year, and he just earned MVP status in the Big Shots Myrtle Beach Hoop-fest. That clearly got the attention of all the sharks like Illinois, Pitt, Virginia Tech, South Florida, Iowa State. He is now enamored with these big boys who have just jumped into the recruiting fray. I would sadly say that our chances are now very remote along with the several others who had offered early. This is the worst part of recruiting, as you do your homework, get in early, only to be ousted by the big boys.

bjif, thanks for the follow up. While there is a dash of reality with the "big boys" jumping in, it's also another testimony to the work Coach Schmidt and his staff do in identifying talent. Keep plug n, Go Bonnies.

bjif - based on the number of recruiting announcement stories I have read where the recruit states that the team he signed with was one of the first teams to offer him, I think we can remain cautiously hopeful. I think there is some benefit to being one of the first to offer a kid. Who knows if that will be the case here, but I think there’s at least a reasonable chance of success. Also, while the schools you identify are certainly bigger then Bonas, they are generally not at the top of the league they are in. For example, Pitt is bigger then Bonas, but in truth they are a middle of the pack ACC team, although their staff has done a good job with their recruiting.

Ceharv I love your optimism and get your point. If only logic and loyalty prevailed in recruiting we might be a top 25 club. Think Mark and staff have done a great job finding kids who fit our program and appreciate being at St.Bonaventure.
