The OTH article dated June 8th makes it clear that the Fort Duquesne wrecking crew including the now sainted Sister Margaret Pittsburg knew full well that Dean Hoffman was a Wiccan BEFORE whe was hired for the post....and yes Virginia there were OTHER qualified candidates for the post.
Again more evidence of administrative failure. SMP's true ultra left wing colors are now on full display for all to see.
Apparently members of the BoT were incensed when that found out about this FUBAR.
Necessary and overdue changes were made.

Oh where oh where would I start.......to critique Sister Margaret Pittsburg ....Bonahil merger, Bona World development, branch Campus in the most anti Catholic country in the world India, midnight beer raids, failure to embrace new allied health majors, East German Business Center (renown for its post WWII design) located in exactly the wrong site on campus, failure to listen to campus community groups - students, alums, faculty, staff on FOSBU, failure to recruit, did I mention failure to recruit, attempting to build a Mosque on campus (derailed by alumni protests thank goodness - but very possibly the most bizarre decision in Bona history, and a clear indication of terminal group think), imposition of extreme leftist political correctness guidelines, attempting to muzzle students fans at the RC into oblivion, failure to defend Catholic doctrine and last but certainly not least deliberating hiring a Dean of a major school who religious beliefs are completely opposed to Catholic and Franciscan teachings. Sorry its late, and I know I missed some relevant issues.....but tomorrow will be a better day. Peace and love to all..... Another day and another failure......Sister Margaret Pittsburg was the leading element in the banning of the sale of Indian Head gear - hats, shirts, flags, and sweatshirts, and the banning of wearing such gear. One university employee told me that he would have fired if wore such gear on campus. Prime evidence of political correctness gone mad. And you wonder why SBU enrollment dropped like a stone? Think again. |

I don't post here often, but one of the reasons I (usually) like to read this board is the lack of politics on it. So think what you may of Sr. Margaret (and bash her if it makes you feel better to go after a nun), but please lay off the left wing/right wing pot shots. People come here to get away from that garbage.

Sister Duquesne made things so bad that enrollment tanked and transfers increased significantly. Should she had somehow stayed on it is doubtful that SBU would have survived. I'm baffled as to how she jived her Catholic faith with her anti-Catholic initiatives. Just about everything she touched ended up a mess one way or another.

Sorry my speech is protected under the 1st amendment - many Americans including several family members have sacrificed their lives for those rights. So the hate speech falsehood is just another far left group think exercise. Her administration is open to critique just like any other administration or are you implying that she is exempt from a review of her tenure because she is ...... a nun? Really, interesting concept here - and more denial of free speech. And by the way Liberty University is a Christian Evangelical university, with every right to educate students in a manner they see fit. Bonas is a Catholic, Franciscan University with every right to educate students in conformance with Catholic doctrine, and Franciscan philosophy. Don't like Catholic doctrine - fine you are free to enroll in SUNY or CUNY or Oberlin at any time. Here is the bottom line - we are Catholics, and proud of our faith, and happy to defend it - anytime. Unfortunately what happened in the case of the Fort Duquesne administration wrecking crew was they elected to veer from our Catholic faith principles and go for the politically correct far left standards. The Journalism Dean fiasco was emblematic of that wrongheaded leadership or building a proposed Mosque on campus - strange in light of massive fatal attacks on Catholics in Egypt, Philippines, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, Ceylon, and France . The enrollment numbers proved the point. They dropped like a lodestone during her tenure. |

I'm sure no fan of Sister Duquesne but 1st Dev seems to be getting fixated on this past-tense, inept former Prez. Moving forward, the Board recently evaluated Dr. DePerro at his two year mark and he received very high praise. It's clear that Dr. DePerro and the Board have left Sister Duquesne in their collective dust.....and so should we. Sister Duquesne was a "backs against the wall" choice by the then Board after the Scandal and she hung on for far too long. As her failures become history let's just take a lesson from them and move boldly on....kinda like Dr. D. and the current Board are doing.
