And, yet, a garbage tournament with a Bona entry would be must see TV. You guys crack me up.
It's like all the superstar recruits we get that turn out to be no talent bums when they sign somewhere else.

Well duh Res.... because I’m a St Bonaventure alum and now I dont have a reason to watch because the St Bonaventure team is not in it. Why is that funny? - Maybe watching “Team Tookie” vs “Hoop Goon” will get you jacked up, idk, but the tournament advertises that “anyone can play” and yet these guys assemble a very talented team with a legitimate coach and can’t play. The tournament asks for “fan support” and Bona people sign up significantly more than most teams as fans and yet this team can’t play? That’s garbage.

I gave money to this. I wonder how I get it back? They are in the process of refunding any gofundme donations. I already received an email from gofundme saying my donation would be returned in 3-7 business days or something like that.

I feel really bad for our guys. They really wanted to get back on the floor together and rep the Brown and White. I also feel bad for the guys trying to organize the team. They put a bunch of work in and it was all for naught. Obviously the change from 64 to 24 teams really hurt our chances.
Because we haven't had hoops since March and who knows if we will get any pro sports I plan on still watching. I think the Illinois Alumni team will be who I throw my support behind unless some of our guys land on a different team. Why team Illini? They have Mike Daum and Matt Mooney two of the best players to ever play in the Summit League and absolute mid-major darlings. How they ended up on an Illinois alumni team is beyond me but I loved watching those guys play for their South Dakota and SDST teams and it will be a lot of fun to see them team up rather than go head to head.

There are now 5 teams that have had to drop out due to positive Covid tests. Maybe it was a blessing the Brown and White didn't make it. At this rate it seems hard to imagine them being able to finish the tournament without more teams dropping out and at what point do they have to throw in the towel and cancel the rest of it?

It should give us all pause whether or not there will be a Bona/A10 season. This winter could be a double whammy, COVID surge and flu. If there is a season, will the seats be mandated empty?

I would not bet on setting foot in the RC this season. Not until there is a vaccine. They are making progress but I think realistically the vaccine wont be available until the spring.

From my understanding of how this spreads the RC on gameday would absolutely be a perfect breeding ground. The school sent out a survey about a week ago asking to try to figure out if/how to have fans at games. My answer was almost exactly what KC says. Not until a vaccine. Even if you figure out spacing in seats you have to deal with restrooms, ingress and egress, halftime, and how to actually enforce any of those rules.
The Ivy League schools were the proverbial canary in the coal mine in March when this all started and I thought they were over reacting. Lesson learned listen to the canaries and they are looking to move all sports to the spring. I imagine the A10 and others are considering this too.

That canary in the coal mine, Harvard, has essentially shut down the campus for the entire 20-21 academic year. I hate to say it but I just don’t see any scenario where we have college sports this year.

It is far from a fair to use the Ivy League as the canary in a coal mine. They have a different mine all to themselves. This is a much easier decision for the Ivies to make vs other D1s. Ivies don't stand to lose nearly the revenue that other conferences would by pushing back football. They won't lose near the number of student athletes to transfer as other colleges would by not having a season. They have huge endowments to weather the storm. Lastly, and sadly, living (or not) with Covid around us is now a political issue. Safe to say where the Ivies fall and how willing they are to take one for the team. Sorry to inject that but I do so not to fuel the fire but to point out that it is a real part of this decision.
