VCU had it and choked against Duquense. Would have put us in good shape as Davidson went down against Richmond.

Down the stretch "Bones" looked like a man not a machine

Some bizarre plays at end of regulation. VCU was up 12 with 9:30 left. Led game for 39 mins.
Free throws a factor as they hit only 11 of 21. Pathetic. Shot 51% from the field and 52% from stripe.
Last 6 days have been tough on Bona fans.

I tried to say it right after the Duq vs GW game but Duquesne found something when they were down big at the end of that game. They found a lineup that can play apply extreme pressure on the defensive end without giving up much on offense.
When Duq plays that way they look more like VCU than Duq. Down the stretch you could tell that VCU was limping to the finish line and didn't have experienced guys to take control of a tight game. Bones looked like a freshman.

If UD is to take a pre-tourney hit, tonite at URI would be the time.
Bona needs a bounce back badly or the season will end, badly. I just do not see a win at a fired up SLU. So if the double bye goes, it goes. Do the best they can in Brooklyn, knowing that it's UD vs the field.

It's rare to be touched by excellence in the A10. After a 27-pt curb stomp at URI in a shutdown effort, UD is a win away from running an 18-0 league table. 28-2, winners of 19 straight, #3 in the country. Only GW at home stands in the Flyers path. And after what Obi, Landers and Crutcher did to Rhody, I wouldn't wager against them in Brooklyn.
We've seen very good league teams thru the years. This Dayton side has a chance to be great. I for one am awed by what they have achieved so far.

Because I believe its there for the taking for them!!! Maybe they should lose in Brooklyn though, you never want to have the added pressure of a massive win streak as you enter the dance

When Dayton was locked in to the 2 seed before Baylor, SDST, Maryland all lost and weakened their 1 seed cases, I thought Dayton might be beatable in the A10 tourney.
Now that they have a path to the 1 seed and everyone outside the A10 is talking smack about the A10 being a bad conference, they are locked in. The last two games we have seen a locked in Dayton team, and there are only a few teams in the country that can make it a game with a locked in Dayton, none reside in the A10.
Unless Dayton's path to a 1 seed gets a lot easier, say Gonzaga, SDST, and Baylor all losing early in their conference tournaments, I think Dayton's path of destruction continues.

If Dayton wins out in Brooklyn, the A-10 probably has just one team in the tournament. This despite the fact the league had its best overall win percentage in OOC play in many years. That OOC performance unfortunately looks like it will do very little for the league. If resumes were evaluated today. the best the league would probably do outside of Dayton would be for four to five teams to make the NIT (Richmond, SLU, URI, VCU, and possibly Davidson or Duquesne). The NIT however offers no significant revenue potential, little exposure, and absolutely no prestige for the league or its participants.
The A-10 is very much trending downward in recent years. It had averaged over 3 NCAA teams for the last several decades. That does not look to be the case the last two seasons. With the top conferences further consolidating their power and control over the tournament, things look to be only getting tougher for the A-10. I fear it is following in the footsteps of leagues such as the MVC and MAC which used to regularly send multiple teams to the tournament over a decade ago. Just their tournament champion via its automatic bid seems to be the only path to the show these days for these conferences.

Tonight (3/6/2020) there are 2 games:
Richmond at Duquesne ESPN+ at 7pm. If Richmond wins they get the 2nd seed. If the Dukes win will break the 3 way tie with us and the Bills, awaiting tomorrow of us vs the Bills.....Dukes have head to head tiebreaker vs Bills
VCU at Davidson ESPN2 at 9pm. If VCU wins Davidson and VCU would be 9-9 awaiting tomorrow UMass game to see if 3 way tie for 7th.
Lots of possible changes 2 thru 6....all resolved Saturday night .
I believe that Richmond holds the tiebreaker vs URI, meaning that Richmond is the 2 seed whether they win or lose.

Richmond up 37-29 at half over Duquesne. Imho Spidey should be in the NIT at minimum. Have had a nice season.
