The Ivy league just announced they cancelled their conference tournament due to the coronavirus. I'm not sure that any others will do the same with lots of revenue potentially lost, but I would not be surprised to see some games (especially NCAA tournament games) played with no crowd.
For those heading to Brooklyn, please be safe! Several schools have already shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak and there are rumblings of certain offices closing for the foreseeable future (work remotely) because of the confirmed cases in the NYC area.
Go Bonnies!

Yet, they pay no attention to the flu, which has racked up more deaths in the US this year...the every 4 year scare

The other part to consider with coronavirus is the death rate of the older demographic. I’m not sure there is sufficient evidence (that I’ve seen as of yet) suggesting that this is a major concern for children or young adults. Older adults are at much more risk. This is why the death rate in a country like Italy (older population) is higher than other countries. That’s my concern for any of the older fans attending this (or any) tournament.
I will say the Ivy response is questionable from the standpoint that they will allow their regular season winners to play in NCAA tournament games, but not have a conference tournament? If the NCAA games were already declared to be playing in empty stadiums, then I could understand better this aggressive move. But they are willing to send a couple of teams in front of much more fans than what the relatively newly established Ivy League tournament

I am part of that older demographic, and am reluctant to go to the Barclays....i will be cheering, sadly alone, but will be watching. My usual compatriots are also reluctantly not attending.

Could you imagine what would happen if they told you it was 10 times worse than the flu and the death rate was significantly higher.

Five elite colleges in MA have made the decision today to close their campuses and send students home. All class studies going forward through this semester will be on line at Harvard, MIT, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Smith.

My friend, another alumni, has a daughter who was playing in the D3 tournament and following school and NCAA (I presume) guidelines they did the elbow bumps when the captains met, then did the elbow bumps during the introductions. They then went out and played a normal physical basketball game where they were in constant contact with each other. Made absolutely no freaking sense.

THIS IS NOT THE FLU !!! This is a unique virus and the dangerous thing is that there is little history available and we are learning its characteristics in real time. CAUTION not PANIC.

Ohio governor, Mike DeWine, asked all sporting events in Ohio be postponed, the NCAA as of today said they plan on letting people attend tournament games. Isn't Cleveland the site of some first round NCAA games?
