Coach Cal & Dick Vitale are pushing for this. I don’t like it for basketball for the reasons others have already said. I especially don’t like it if Cal is for it because I bet he’s anticipating a ton of grad transfers. If they’re going to give an extra year, only let guys use it where they were enrolled this year. The other consideration is what this does for record books. If Osun, Lofton, and Welch get a fifth year, how far up all time ranks do they get here and do they reach untouchable highs?

-what are posters thinking about the idea of giving seniors a special waiver allowing them to come back next year and play without affecting schools' scholarships? Don’t like it. Scholarship limits should not be changed. Winter sports had a full season. No reason to give them a year. The spring sports are getting their season back but within the same scholarships.

Heard the AD from Florida on the radio today saying that seniors should get the year back including winter sports since the national championship hadn’t happened in any sports yet. Surprised at the idea that it would only apply to seniors. Not that Obi is making a comeback, but a sophomore at Dayton is losing as much as anyone this year by missing out on the tournament.

Sure, he can come back, he does not have to take the millions the NBA will offer. It is his choice.

Top 3 draft pick, no doubt.

For a student-athlete at St Bonaventure, this would have ZERO impact, correct?
None of our spring sports athletes are going professional and so they aren’t gonna hang around after they graduate just to play softball or cross country. They are gonna want to enter the workforce

Plenty of student athletes are enrolled in 5 year programs or are interested in obtaining graduate degrees so why wouldn't they use the extra year? If baseball shortens its draft, Bona may catch a break and have a couple of draft eligible juniors return for their senior seasons instead of being picked in a later rounds and heading off to the minors
