In the midst of "The Roni" (as my adult children have taken to calling everyone's current situation), we are bored with no BB or any other sports to talk/complain about. So, inspired by the discussion under the Sports Thread regarding OHS Discharge Day, and Beef's Pacer, I have come up with a new topic for discussion.
Two part question that needs to be answered: - first car you ever owned, how much you paid for it (if you remember) and any other details you want to share. - the favorite car you ever owned, and why

Lets get it started.
My first car was a lime green 4 door Ford Maverick I bought from my parents for $500 in 1980. Bought it cause I needed a car for my Bona internship the summer before my Senior Year. Was a good runner. Not knowing anything about cars, I wore one tire down so bad the wires from the band were sticking out the sides when I went to get it fixed at some station in Olean.
My Favorite car is still my first New Car. 1981 Toyota Tercel. Vinyl seats, vinyl walls. 5 speed stick. Had to have a stereo dropped in (Alpine Cassette with Jenson Speakers). My favorite cause it was my first brand new car - I waxed that car more than all the other cars since - combined. And it was the car that I had the first date with my wife, drove to our honeymoon in it (up at the Cape), and the for the first few years of our marriage. I have owned probably 12 cars since that one. Nicer ones, faster ones, better stereos. But not as many fond memories.

My first car was a 1964 white Chevrolet Chevelle 300, I believe the sticker price was $2300. It had a V8, Chevy 283 cu inch engine. It had air conditioning, it had the Chevy Power Glide transmission. I bought it new in September 1964, while I was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Tx. As a brand new 2nd Lieutenant, it was a necessity to have a set of wheels. My favorite car....well that's tough, I had two "Z" cars, but I think my favorite was my 1970 Chevrolet Camaro, SS 350, with a 4 speed, without air conditioning, heck didn't need it in NY. Then I moved to Austin Texas, and eventually I sold the car....wish I would have kept it. It cost around $3300 new.

fjs - I am seeing a common thread here with your cars - the need for speed! All fast cars. The late 60s and early 70s had the best muscle cars

fjs - I am seeing a common thread here with your cars - the need for speed! All fast cars. The late 60s and early 70s had the best muscle cars During the first gas crisis in 1973/74 I replaced that beautiful Camaro with a Toyota Celica, with a 2000cc engine. Eventually to 4 door sedans and now a SUV....thankfully I can still drive, although my wife doesn't think so. In late 1973 with the first gas crisis, prices for gas went from the 30 cent range to over 60 cents, gas lines were long (like around the block), if your plates ended in even numbers you could buy on certain days, etc (when I moved to Austin in 1971, I could get a gallon of gas for 21.9 per gallon). The American manufacturers had no "nice" cars that were not gas guzzlers, but the Japanese did.....thus started my 4 decades with Nissans and Toyotas.

Mine was a Gray, 1974 Camaro. Was going thru my "motorhead" days despite gas shortage. Took out 6 cylinder engine put in a 350 V8 with a Holley 4 bl carb, headers, chrome rims, 50" inch tires in the back. My favorite car I ever owned.

Big conversion there. Lots of burned rubber with those tires. Chevy 350, the Ford Mustang 351 - classic engines
