well we know that commencement will be delayed, and now no reunion....probably combine with next year, but possibly separate... school is asking for those that paid to instead donate to the university the money they have paid

The predictions from last week by both the Federal and NYS government forced our hand to move up the go no-go date. We were getting reunion cancellations. We also have been monitoring Facebook pages and there was much discussion about being uncomfortable about coming back for the reunion.
Just an explanation about refunds, this was an idea by alumni. They suggested we give the option, as some had already done before we made the decision to postpone, to donate all, a portion, or none to the Bonaventure Fund. The University will be refunding unused student room and board fees. This amount will be a hit to the University budget. alumniguy

What does everyone think should be done about students grades? My brother is a student at Bonaventure now and is really struggling to get good communication with some of his professors who are older and not well versed in technology. He has said that it’s a lot like he’s having to teach himself almost all of the material and that he has more work than in a typical semester. Some of his friends have come up with the idea of having a pass/fail option for students who don’t want their GPAs to plummet due to the difficulties associated with the online learning. Just wondering this is something the university could even do and what the potential consequences of it would be.

Just wondering this is something the university could even do and what the potential consequences of it would be. This is a common trend for institutions to enact grade policy changes this semester. My institution established a Pass/No Credit option. The philosophy being that no students will 'fail' this semester. There aren't a lot of negative implications in a broad sense. But, for those who need specific grades for grad school or continued matriculation in the major, or even scholarships, choosing a Pass may not be in their best interest. That's not accounting for those potential entities themselves that might adjust their own requirements for the same reasons. I thought SBU had, or was, considering a grade policy but I haven't looked it up specifically to verify.
