Not sure how many here read the OTH but there’s a story in today’s edition about the availability some back-in-the-day vintage full length Bona games on You Tube, including the cookiegate game twenty years ago against Temple, won by J R Bremer with a corner 3 with under 3 seconds to go. I just rewatched the game I attended back in 00 in the RC. What a great game and historic shot! And what great Bona players - Winn, Bremer, Capers, Cyrus, Van Paassen, Prato! Does any know what those guys are doing now? And how about Jimmy Baron? I have lost track of Jim after URI and Canisius. I imagine he’s retired, but haven’t heard that for sure. Watching is a good way to pass some Carona downtime. The full show includes interviews with a couple of guys who faced some hard times in the following few years, John Rigas and Robert Wickenheiser.

Baron made an appearance at the 2017 A10 tournament when the Bonnies played UMass at PPG Arena. The Bona faithful gave him a heartfelt ovation shortly before a joyous “69” chant once our boys reached that plateau in the game when it was well in hand. Great times! Ughhhh I miss college basketball and it sucks we have no closure on this season...

I ran into Baron at the State King after the Hofstra game and talked to him for a bit. He's retired from coaching and is living in Florida if I remember correctly. Also following the boys careers overseas a lot more closely.

Bremer is head coach at Cleveland Heights High School, his alma mater. Did a nice job in year 1. He brings the same passion he showed as a player to the kids he coaches. JR played 13+ Years in the Euro League, Russian Super League and NBA.
Van Paassen is coaching in the Euro League after a great pro career (retired in 2013). He was or is an assistant with a team in Holland.
