Wow. Was Vince Gill in PPL at the time? We did get 10,000 Maniacs just before they hit it big. It wasn't a concert but a Halloween party/ dance and they were the band. Vince Gill was not with them, nor was Craig Fuller. PPL had recorded their first album with Craig Fuller as the driving artist, but the album didn't go very far. They recorded their 2nd (Bustin Out) with Fuller, who then left the band (I seem to recall there was a draft board problem). Subsequently, their song "Amie" became a hit. The band was on tour promoting their 3rd album when the Bona date was scheduled. Blizzard of '77 intervened. Vince Gill came later.

My Freshman year both Springsteen and the Doobies visited the RC. Great shows (from what I can remember). On another note - The Grateful Dead (although never playing @ the RC) seemed to have a penchant for touring upstate NY in early May (Spring Finals Week) during my time @ BONAS. That definitely took a toll on my GPA - but I somehow managed to survive and advance ...

I had one spot light to control at the Sly concert and half the time I was spotting it on my buddies in the crowd! I see Coach Handler in your picture and I had dinner with Coach Handler last night in Fairhope,Al.

Chazzie, thanks for your post. I didn’t tknow Coach Handler was still alive. I didn’t t know him well, but he seemed like a great guy. Probably one of the best sources for sports history/trivia at Bonas. I was a freshman pe major at Bonas in 1970. John Skehan, George Colfer and Fred Handler were the department.
