A new tread for a new season, and a new team. 7 returning players, 7 players wearing the Brown & White for the first time (from a legends god-daughter to a freshman from Sarajevo to a sister of an NBA veteran to another chemistry major). Lots of new faces that need to be blended, let's hope that the talent can be formed into a winner. gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/w-baskbl/2020-21/roster

The truth be told, I don't follow the women's program as religiously as the men's program. However I did watch them play maybe 4-5 times last year, and in the games I did watch they hung in there pretty well despite some real height disparities between the Lady Bonnies and their opponent's. I also know there is some strong sentiment to fire the coach. I'm also a Cleveland Browns fan and I no the result for firing the coach/gm year and year, starting from scratch may see like the answer, but if the coach, with the influx of new players, maybe able to "right the ship". The bottom line, I don't think we have the resources to fire a coach who is still under contract and pay a new coach as well, while trying to start from ground zero convincing a recruit, who we likely weren't recruiting, when you fire the coach, you are likely looking at trying to scramble once you've made the new hire to scrounge around for new players. What I saw that the Lady Bonnies have coming back is some exceptional back court play. Emily Calabrese basically was the front court for the Lady Bonnies and if she had gotten a little bit of help last year, I think the Lady Bonnies record could have been a lot closer to .500. It's tough when your tallest starter is 6', when you are likely going up against teams who had several players 6'2", 6'3" and occasionally 6'4". I haven't followed the recruiting that closely, partly because the women don't get the same coverage. I was aware that I yanna, the 6'3" transfer from the Cal State system, who will be eligible spring semester was coming and I think could give the program a real boost. Likewise Star Fitzgerald-Greer, a grad transfer from Howard, another 6'3"player, who seems to have some skill, will help out inside and appears to have the ability to break down players and drive to the hoop. Until I read fjs64's piece I didn't even know we had recruiting Mia, from Sarajevo, a 6'1"freshman. I no nothing about her game, but she's 6'1". Add to the mix, Tori Harris, a 6' transfer from James Madison, who I believe put up decent numbers at JM. I had seen some footage of Toiri, just shooting in the gym at Bona's and she looked pretty smooth as a shooter, something the Lady Bonnies sorely missed last year. There are also to freshman, that I would characterize as big guards, small forwards that come from winning programs in Elmira, NY and Bethel Park, PA, that may well be contributors this year as well. I recall on the men's side that when you start to see kids coming out of programs that are consistent winners, that starts to transfer to improved pllay and eventually more wins. I know I've overlooked some of the returning kids, who got decent playing time last year that with this infusion of new talent will likely raise their games as well. So I would have to say, I'm looking forward to seeing what this group can do.

This roster has promise. Question becomes how quickly it can jell.
Jesse must show discernable progress this season or thatsityouregone. No more excuses.

Touchy, aren't you?
He has to win. Period. If/when, I'll "stfu".
Remember the Parcells maxim -- you are what your record says you are.

Dude is 4 seasons in and hadn’t sniffed even a .500 record but in all actuality, this season will be a weird one so he may get an even longer leash.

I like Jesse as the coach, and he certainly has brought in some potential high end talent, so give him credit on that score.....but I think he probably has this year and maybe the next to turn the ship around. After that he is probably on thin ice. Bonas does have a history of sticking with WBB coaches in extended rebuilds. I would have liked to have seen Sarah P OHS '18 recruited, but alas other than a preferred walk on offer, that did not occur. You can always use an extra shooter off the bench.
