I had the Browns game on the tube, lifelong Browns fan, and the Richmond/Kentucky game on the radio/streaming. Richmond could not get a shot to fall first half, Kentucky didn't shoot well either, but dominated the offensive glass. With their length and athleticism Kentucky got Richmond in early foul trouble, Richmond's starting guards each had two fouls on the about the ten minute mark of the first half, soon to be joined with Golden, but Richmond got some great contributions from their bench, I'd have to look at the box score, but I'll bet Moonye used 9 or 10 guys at least. The Spiders were down only four at the half. They let about 3,000 fans in Rpps arena. The second half, the Spider were able to inch ahead with an early 11-1 run and then just kept the Wildcats at bay. Wildcats continued to hit the boards, but eventually the Spider shot began to fall, it was veterans vs the frosh, web ut counted. Despite the foul trouble, Gilliard literally stole the show the second half. They built up an 18 pt lead, which is unheard of in Rupp area. After the game I heard Monney say that the Spiders were disappointed in there play in the first half, but came out very confident in the second half and just willed themselves to make stops. I don't know what the final stats were, but the Wildcats shot an 0 for for the game from the beyond the arc. Between the way the Spiders handled them in the end, it was impressive. When you combine that game with SLU's effort against a very good LSU team yesterday, the Bilikens playing without French, beat the Tigers 85-81. A great weekend, A10 2-0 vs arguably the two top teams in the SEC. Now, we just need to keep up our end of the bargain. Go Bonnies

That was an impressive win by Spidey, at Rupp, over Cal's one-and-doners. Very balanced attack, and a gritty effort despite 54-31 reb disparity.
I would be thrilled w a split vs UR this year. Both Spidey and SLU should get top 25 consideration.

Watching the Davidson game and its a typical Davidson team. Really good on offense but they can't stop dribble penetration. They are hanging with 17 Texas right now though.

Give Davidson some credit they hung with a very talented Texas team and tied the game with a little under a minute to play. Texas scored on a drive, something Davidson was having difficulty defending all game long. Davidson had two shots at the end to try and win/tie, but both were just slightly off. Find 78-76. Davidson looks improved over last year have added another good International 6'9" Meaning, I'm not sure about the spelling, he's from Austria. He has both an inside and outside game. Davidson now has more than one good big, which to me is the trend in the A10 this year. I don't know what the final stats were, but I would say that if Davidson shot anywhere close to their normal three point percentage, they would have won the game. That being said, credit due to a young, talented and deep Texas team. If they can hit their outside shots, I think they'll gibe Kansas a run for their money. Add Davidson to the list of A10 teams that can compete.

Dukes in Louisville for a couple of games, loose their opener by ten, eleven to Ark Little Rock. I listened to the Dukes announcer call the game from Pittsburgh on a stream feed. I want to say 76-65 or something like that. It clearly was a first game for the Dukes, lots of mistakes. The Dukes could not hit a three in their comeback attempt. they have added a couple of wing guys, but again it was the shooting that hurt them. They were consistently giving up lay ups to Ark L-R. Dukes play UNC hyphened , either Greensboro or Wilmington on Wednesday.

In looking at the post-game stats, it looks like the Dukes inside game got beat pretty bad. Hughes looks to have done very little (7pts, 8 boards) and the absence of anyone else to score down low bit the Dukes in the butt. That's their weakness and there appears to be no one on the roster to help out low if Hughes doesn't play well. They were outscored in the paint 46-24 and got out-rebounded by 5.

RICHMOND is now pausing like ST. JOE's after a positive test. Too bad after their big win.

Ugh, LEE cannot finish lay up at 1.6 seconds left in game as WILDCATS lose(Friars always have been one of my more disliked teams). 63-62.

We know how tough McKillop's marauders are. They'll be around, fear not.
