St Louis favored -4.5 tonight against NC State. ESPN predictor slight edge to NC State. They haven't really beaten anybody, with several cancelled or postponed games. Should be a good one. St up 19-10 with 8 minutes left first half. SLU looks more like Fordham so far. SLU with a big win over NC State. SLU played an excellent 2nd half and State ran out of gas.

Is SLU ranked? If not, why not? They've won 11 straight dating to last season. Scary good team, folks. Bona again will have their hands full with this bunch.

I also was impressed by SLU last night. I watched the game right before half time and about ten minutes into the second half. NC State was holding their own and actually went up by six and it looked like they might start building on that lead. I was watching a couple of other games and missed the rest of the game, I was surprised to see the final score. The announcers felt is was just a matter of time, before SLU imposed their will on the wolf pack. Not taking anything away from SLU from NC State was down a couple of players and so from a depth standpoint, they were going to have some difficulty with the bodies that the Billikens can put on the floor. I saw that Richmond is playing tonight in Chicago. They were supposed to play Duquesne, but the Dukes are or were on pause, so Richmond scheduled a game with Loyola, which has a pretty good team. I also noted that Davidson is playing Rhody tonight.

The impressive stats about the N C State - St. Louis game was the Billikens had 21 turnovers and shot 45 percent and still won.

St. Louis win against LSU was really impressive. Their win against NC State was less impressive. -- LSU finished 2nd in the SEC and picked 3rd on SEC Media Day. All 5 starters played against St. Louis. -- NC State tied for 6th in the ACC, but was picked 8th on ACC Media Day. Missing against St. Louis were 6'10" DJ Funderburk (last year 12.8 ppg was 2nd highest on team) and star freshman Cam Hayes, who already won Freshman Player of Week honors in ACC. Hayes is averaging 11.3 ppg. I was impressed with St. Louis win against NC State, but as the St. Louis announcers stated, it looked like NC State ran out of gas. NC State played few reserves, probably result of missing Funderburk and Hayes. On the other hand St. Louis used a deep bench. This week in the AP Poll, Richmond is 1 spot from being in the Top 25, while St. Louis is right behind Richmond. Richmond's win against Vanderbilt and St. Louis win over NC State should put both in the Top 25. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings

As Chuck noted, SLU is on the verge of the top 25 and has been for several weeks (if not the entire season). I’m assuming it’s lack of a marquee win (see Richmond bearing Kentucky @rupp, then the very next week being ranked 19th). When Bona’s won at Cuse, we started getting top 25 votes. Likely would have been ranked without that opening loss to Niagara (sans Adams).

Few can match St Louis on the boards. Their domination overcomes flaws.

I'm a little biased here but if that was the Bonnies who had the fortune to be playing Kentucky this early in the season, that would have been us to win against the Wildcats. That is the time to play Kentucky before they gel and have much time with Calipari to become formidable. Richmond is the same team that we have had under our thumb for the past three years. And they were without one of their best players from last year, Sherrod, who may be out for the season. I think St. Louis is a better team and probably the best in the conference. Richmond is good, but we shouldn't be any worse. Let's see how it plays out. Go Bonas!!!

I dont disagree at all - but will add that this is the year to play any big name team away with limited fan attendance. I don’t doubt at all what we could have accomplished at Rupp or what we could achieve this season. SLU is every bit as good as Richmond and we are up there too.

I'm not sure if anyone noted this, but I watched the last half of the Rhode Island vs Davidson game last night. The Davidson strategy was to surround Fats and not let him penetrate. They would give him the three, but everything else, he would really have to work for whether that be a shot or the opportunity to dish. For the most part that proved successful. Grady had by his standards what you'd call an off night, but he was carried by other players. The Davidson bench did a great job. That's been the theme that I've seen so far this year, the teams that win are going ten and sometimes eleven deep, keeping players fresh. I think it's a two way street, when players know they are going to get regular minutes, they are more engaged and prepared. I don't know the extent of the injury but Harris, a forward for Rhody went down late in the game with some type of leg injury. One of the Mitchell twins, I'm uncertain which one, had apparently gotten hurt in practice? Or perhaps in another game, Rhody has played some very physical teams, anyway one of the Mitchell twins is out for the season. So towards the end of the game Rhody was having some match up issues with the Davidson bigs. Losing Metcalf from our program, gets me nervous about the fact we only have three guys over 6'8", so we need everybody to contribute and stay healthy. Sorry to be all over the place, Davidson won I believe by 8-10 its. I watched the first half of Loyola Chicago vs Richmond. In typical Richmond fashion, first they ran their offense to perfection and then unleashed Gulyard and co in the press. It was 37-20 at the half, but I just checked the final and I was shocked, Loyola outscored the Spiders in the second half, something like 51-36 and only lost by two, 75-73. Just like the Davidson/Rhody game, Richmond is getting it done with a rotation of up to 9 of 10 guys.
I had one last thought on Richmond. while it was hard to watch them get pasted by West Virginia last Sunday, I wonder if Mooney will use it to push the Spiders. Gave them a glimpse of what it's going to take to play against the type of competition they are going to see in the NCAA Tournament.

After Losing metcalf, bona has one player besides ossuniye as big as 6’8”.That is Winston. He played13 minutes against Hofstra, and had two rebounds Not a good setup to play ub let alone St. Louis.

Unfortunate St Louis couldn't beat Minn. Looks like it was back and forth until mid way through 2nd half.
Meanwhile, UMASS may very well lose to Bryant. Yikes.

St. Joes blown out vs. Tennessee. Mason survives (barely) vs. VMI Umass does in fact lose to Bryant.
Rough day for the A10 but then again those three teams aren't really considered contenders. The A10 blue bloods have looked strong
