Olean General Hospital is now being heavily negatively impacted by the absurd, counterproductive and downright dumb NYS mandates on vaccinations imposed by Ex Catholic Governor Kathy Hochul. Staff who already have had C19 and are thus immunized with antibodies are being laid off, causing a severe shortage of RN's and LPN's and CNA's. And you wonder why folks move out of the Socialist People's Republic of NY?

Absurd and socialist state mandates are continuing to impact health care in the Southern Tier, including Olean OGH, and in Buffalo too. Rehab facilities are refusing to accept any new patients due to lack of staff, leading to a situation here patients are either wharehoused in hospitals or sent home in perilous condition. ER's are over loaded, due to staff shortages and assisted living facilities have lost many staffers.....all due to the Ex Catholic Governor Kathy Hochul's one size fits all insane vaccine mandate. Totally inexcusable and wrongheaded state policy.
And by the way folks who have had and been exposed to the C19 China virus have excellent natural immunity and are in no need of a vaccine dose. More absurdity in mandates thanks to the socialists.

97% of Olean General staff was already vaccinated anyway. Tired of catering to the 3% in this country....

Thank you Dr. Fauci and Joe Biden "tired of catering to you 3%". Biden is as divisive as Trump - just in regards to different subjects. The two very large groups that are not vaccinated are blacks and latinos - so many in the world of minorities considers this statement to be "racist" - you are attacking groups with your statement. That is why BLM is standing up to the NYC requirements. Also, did you know CDC just changed the definition of vaccine on their website within the last month or so, since the current injection failed the old definition? lastly, before the personal attacks start, my wife is, and my children are, " of color". So tread softly in areas you do not know or live in.
Also interesting little facts - Members of Congress and their staff, CDC, INH, Moderna and Pfizer all allow employees to have religious or medical exemptions from being vaccinated. But in NYS, and other states, healthcare workers are not. So people who dealt with Covid face to face for 18 months do not get the same government support as some government paper pusher who is telling you to get vaccinated. Sorry Tasty, while I agree with you on many of your posts, I disagree with you regarding this issue.

Conditions in hospitals, ER's, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other health care institutes are deteriorating by the hour. OGB has lost dozens of employees of all types - RN's, LPN's, CNA's, maintenance staff, housekeeping staff and kitchen staff, and they are not alone. Everysingle health care operation in WNY is losing employees by the bushel basket full because of the idiotic NYS mandates imposed without legislative authority by Ex Catholic Governor Kathy Hochul. The elderly and the sick and homeless will suffer from this mandate.........and suffer badly. |

Nonsense, if one member of that "3%" was a trauma RN in the OGH ER potentially treating and saving one our your loved ones you would think very, very differently. They are required to get a shot for their job. Just like I was required to take several shots to attend Bonaventure and how our military personnel are required to take shots all the time. If you have to have medical services, it’s reasonable to expect the providers have taken every precaution to protect themselves from disease themselves
Over 700,000 Americans have died from COVID to date .That’s more than the total population of close to ten separate states.
It’s long past time to address this in a Unified way.
