I don’t think New Mexico has trouble filling their schedule. NMSU on the other hand has a lot of trouble filling their schedule and they are regularly a solid program. But I am not sure a trip out to the desert is worth it either way depending on what other options are available. I think solely due to UNM's location, they have a difficult time putting together an OOC you would expect for a program like that. Same thing for Colorado State. I would take a H&H with any MWC school most years. The Bonnies typically have 15 home games (14 at the RC and one in Rochester) and never get a major conference team to agree to even a Rochester game. New Mexico - 2020 season had 17 home games and neutral site games with Wisconsin and Auburn. - 2019 season had 16 home games (one of which was Pac12 Colorado) and a neutral site game with St Mary's. - 2018 season had 17 home games (one of which was Pac12 Arizona) and neutral site games with TCU and Maryland (same event as the Bonnies were in). UNM plays NMSU twice every year in their rivalry game. That gets them a good home game and also an away game against a good team in their home state. Colorado State - 2020 season had 16 home games (one of which was Pac12 Colorado) and neutral site games with Loyola-CHI and Washington State. - 2019 season had 17 home games (one of which was SEC Arkansas). - 2018 season had 16 home games (one of which was Pac12 Colorado) and neutral site game with Florida State. And that's ignoring all road games, even when they are at Power Conference schools, and not including neutral site or home/home games with solid mid-majors. They don't have trouble scheduling. They have good sized buy budgets that allow them to get home games and they each get home games with power conference schools and good mid-major programs in addition to getting into some pretty good neutral site events.

no excuses this year man. Preseason prognosticators have us in the top 25... we should have a schedule that reflects that

I was only referencing UNM's home slate. Most years it includes low level D1 teams with some quality low/mid majors just like us. Occasionally they will play a non-D1 club like us. But unlike us, they do get the occasional home game vs. a p6 due to their large arena and fan support. Just goes to show that scheduling is not as easy as most make it out to be.

Impressive work. In some of those states it would be hard to tell the difference!

Only if they're male and only if they're castrated. Hey res, diehard was steering us in the wrong direction, just like this thread.

Very informative and interesting. Way better than reading the usual suspect explain the rationalization of a pre season top 25 team playing a perennial sub 250 KenPom team on the road because scheduling is hard.
