Just reading an article about Elijah in the charlotte paper, sending good karma for Coach s home visit tonight. I happened to note Elijah wears #31, which likely has meaning for all involved.
Hopefully Big Bob is smiling down. Go Bonnie’s.

Watched Elijah strong's highlights. Venning and Elijah would be a problem for team. Both physical bigs with moves around the basket. I would like to see this happen.

Scouting Report -last night, a high school buddy spotted Coach on the evening flight back from Charlotte to Buff - so the visit should have happened. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Watched Elijah strong's highlights. Venning and Elijah would be a problem for team. Both physical bigs with moves around the basket. I would like to see this happen. I mean this in a positive way, Elijah's highlights look a lot like Barry Evans highlights from Putnam. Lots of athletic dunks, finishing at the rim, long and athletic defender with a decent mid-range game. In the brief highlights I saw, a very good finisher but I didn't see a lot of him creating his own shot. It doesn't mean he does not do this, just not something I saw. Hope we get him and glad Coach Schmidt is on the case!

His name and game are appropriate! Teamed with Chad these guys have size and strength to muscle to the glass and take on all A10 bigs. Elijah does dunk frequently but also has 15 to 18 foot range on a very decent jumper. He has that special rebounding tenacity that every rebound is mine. With equal footwork, these guys can and will raise our team FG percentage immeasurably. Now we only need for the kid to say yes and for MS to play them at the same time along with Farrel at the 3. A true sharpshooter a.k.a natural shooter like Wilcox would add 6-8 wins to next year's squad.

JADRIAN is shooting 43.2 percent from beyond the arc! Off the board to Oregon.

Decided to watch the D1 National JUCO Championship game on ESPNU. Hoping to see another Jonathan Hall, who gained Bona’s attention at the National JUCO championship game in 2008. Jonathan led South Plains to the National Championship and was named the tournament’s MVP. For the season Jonathan averaged 14.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Bona discovered Jaren Holmes at the 2019 JUCO Championship game. At Ranger, Jaren averaged 12.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg. At the time, Schmidt compared Jaren to Jonathan calling him a "glue guy like Jonathan Hall." Thankful I watched the game as one player stood out during this game. The DI National JUCO Championship game was between #1 John A. Logan vs. #7 Northwest Florida. Entertaining game with John A. Logan first lead occurring with 40 seconds left on the clock. Northwest Florida missed critical foul shots at the end of the game. John A. Logan won a close game 73-70. Most impressive player in the game was Northwest Florida’s 6’10” Kasean Pryor. He was the 2nd leading scorer in the game with 18 points and led game with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kesean scored; on the low blocks, turnarounds in the paint and made 1 of 2 from 3s. Interesting to note, Kasean’s season stats are almost identical to Jonathan’s sophomore stats. Kasean averaged 14.8 ppg and 8.0 rpg. Kesean’s Profile — 6’10” 200 pound power forward, who is from Chicago. — Transfer from Boise State. Last year averaged 2.3 ppg at Boise State. — Named Panhandle Conference Player of the Year. — JUCO Junction's 10th ranked player. The players listed above him, who have already signed with a school, 7 of the 8 have signed with P6 schools. In the game, Kasean looked better than #3 ranked Curt Lewis, who signed with Missouri. — Kasean at #10 is the highest ranked, of 4 Northwest Florida players listed in the top 26 of JUCO Junctions Top 100. The obvious negative with Kesean is his limited playing time at Boise State. Kasean played on a Boise State team that finished the season ranked #23 in the nation. The strength of the team was their very talented forwards. All 3 averaged over 30 minutes a game and all averaged double digit points. Bonnies played them in the Charleston Classic, which is a tournament won by Bona. Kesean is a tall PF, who can score with his back to the basket. This is something that was lacking from the Bonnies this year. I wonder if Schmidt and his staff noticed Kesean during today's championship game. n.rivals.com/news/jonathan-hall-makes-the-callgobonnies.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jaren-holmes/3844www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2022-23/div1/boxscores/20230325_7pag.xml?view=boxscorewww.jucorecruiting.com/2023-juco-top-100www.nwfraiders.com/sports/mbkb/2022-23/teams/northwestfloridastatecollege?tmpl=teaminfo-network-monospace-template&sort=ptspgwww.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/boise-state/men/2022.html

Chuck, I can always count on you to put a smile on my face. I've been spending way too much time looking at kids in the portal. So hoping we could find a proven scorer, big guard type, also a PF, Kessean sounds like a pretty talented young man. We've got minutes to offer. On top of everything else, it was great to see your name and I knew there was going to me something there even before I clicked on the link. Thanks for checking out the JUCO championship game, I would think that with Max leaving, one priority would be to find a big, like Kasean, who could give us some minutes at center and power forward. We just need to get our karma unstuck.

Looks like staff has identified key portal players and hopefully reciprocal. KORNISH from Maryland has the pedigree but injuries have derailed him thus far. At 6'7 he can play the 3 & 4, and is 4 star. The second target is Nique Clifford from Colorado. He is a 6'6 SG who was the top interscholastic player for the state. His Colorado coach describes him as a fantastic teammate. The third target Josh Rivera is a 6'7 jumping jack who is more athletic than Jale Adaway. He runs the floor with rare speed and finishes with authority. Believe these 3 are at stages of home visits, zoom calls, and campus visits. Now up to staff to make this happen. Don't settle for talent that can't cut the mustard!

Is there a connection we don’t know about with that kid from Colorado? I would love him here, btw

I guess I had not heard the story with Ike Cornish, with respect to injuries. I'm guessing that would in part explain his ability to see the court much. Again, I'll defer to our staff. They seemed pretty impressed in the zoom call with Ike and his parents, always a good first step. I noted that he is coming for a campus visit April 16-18. I wondered if Barry Evans, Jrr, overlapped with Ike, they both are from Baltimore. In Ike's MD media day interview, which again I thought was pretty good he talked about coming up through a very good rec league in Baltimore and chances are that they know each other. I could see Ike at the two or the three, but no way the four. We've gone through too many years IMO, Jalen Adaway being the exception, and even he had Shoon to remedy our perimeter defense breaking down. Nice Clifford, another 6'6" shooting guard, like Cornish could play some three. Keeping inn mind, fingers crossed that Yann returns and to me Yann's spot is at the three as well, with improved ball handling skills, maybe even some time at the two. Ike and Nique seem to me to be very similar players, don't get me wrong, good players who want to up their game, Ike because he really hasn't had the chance, on the collegiate level to show what he can do, and in Nique's case he's averaged 22 mpg in two seasons at CU, his numbers his first year were decent 45% from the field and 40% from three, but those number dropped off significantly this year. In an article in the CO paper, Nique talked about his decision to leave coloradobuffaloeswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/27/nique-clifford-decision-enter-transfer-portal-cu-buffs-mens-basketball/As for Josh Rivera, I recall that he did not play. with PSA's top team, or maybe that was me. He put up decent numbers at Lehigh, but I look who we lost, Mellouk and Amadasun and earlier JNT. I don't see any of these three guys filling the need for a power forward and unless Melian is ready to contribute this year, and I hope he is, but if he's not, we have no back up for Chad Venning. Coach seemed to be reluctant to put Hill in that role. Ideally we get a legit PF, who could spell Chad at the 5. Don't get me wrong, we need to add as many scorers as we can, scoring and the inability to rebound was clearly our Achilles last season. Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but I thought we still had some leads on guys that would fit the PF profile. For now I'm going to live with that dream. In the perfect world we add these three and a PF/C, but that would be a forth scholarship would need to open up. Unfurled was alluding to that notion, but we don't know until we know. If this were possible, these three and a PF/C and let's not forget Miles Rose, that would be some kind of competition for minutes. Based on last year, that to me would be a good thing. Somebody noted on the BW previously, that Mellouk was our top scorer off the bench last year at something like 2/4 ppg and it's hard to win many ball games with those numbers.

While we play the waiting game I though I would do some more digging on one of the guys bjif referenced, Nique Clifford, 6''6" shooting guard, I actually can't remember if he got in the game with us in the NIT out there in March last year. Anyway this Niaue's 24/7 prep sports evaluation coming out of high school Very late-bloomer with almost no college recruitment until end of junior season. Good size for position with long arms. Physically immature frame with long arms; will continue to add strength for next several years. Outstanding feel/basketball IQ; can likely play multiple positions on both sides of court due to combination of feel and physical tools. Outstanding passer and rebounder. Improving shooter. Terrific instincts on defense. Handle and jumper can improve but have made strides. Should be high major starter but has easy NBA upside given extreme trajectory entering college. Athletic Background Dominique Clifford is a 6-5, 170-pound Shooting Guard from Colorado Springs, CO. Also a piece on Nique's basketball plan. gazette.com/high-school-sports/vanguard-schools-nique-clifford-grew-into-role-as-colorados-star-basketball-prospect-paul-klee/article_aaff7fde-3652-11ea-80b6-07f953740f36.htmlIke and Nique both appear to be looking for a re-start, but the talent clearly appears to be there. In Josh's case, he's just looking to build on a very promising first year at Lafayette, where he was named to the Patriot League All Rookie team. I'm sure coach wouldn't mind having three PSA guys on his roster. Also a bjif noted, Josh has some great hops and can also block some shots.

Clifford played a lot in that NIT game against us actually. It wasn't his best night thats for sure, the box score said 6 points on 1-7 from the field but I do remember him
