Katz has us at 27 in his power 36 rankings!

Happy to see that, but why is VCU ranked so high? Bones has left the program... Richmond has to be the clear cut #2 in the A-10.

It was based on the fact that we return all five starters plus our transfers.

Cat, I was referring to VCU. Bona's ranking is pretty much spot on for the reasons you stated. I just hope Our Guys can handle the weight of expectations, and the pressure that goes with the role of the hunted.

I'm not sure where he had us before this latest update. He writes something to the effect of: "OK, so I wanted to reconsider the Bonnies" but not sure what the context is. I think 27 is a little low. (As in we should be top 20)

(As in we should be top 20) On Katz first list he didn’t have us at all From April 6, 2021: 31. St. Bonaventure: The Bonnies should have the 1-2 punch of Kyle Lofton and Osun Osunniyi back to be in the chase for the A-10 title. 34. VCU: The Rams were not a senior-laden team. If they come back, they should get the chance that avoided them this year and play in the NCAA tournament. www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2021-04-06/way-too-early-power-36-rankings-2021-22-college-basketball-season----------- From July 8, 2021: 26. VCU: The Rams by no means bought the possibility to play within the NCAA match resulting from COVID protocols. They may in 2022. 32. St. Bonaventure: The Bonnies have the core again and are primed for an additional NCAA match berth. 34. Richmond: The Spiders might find yourself being one of the vital skilled groups in school basketball. There might be no excuse in the event that they don’t find yourself within the NCAA match. interreviewed.com/how-power-36-shifts-after-key-nba-draft-withdrawal-decisions/----------- From July 20, 2021: 27. St. Bonaventure: OK, so I wanted to reconsider with the Bonnies. They won the A-10 regular-season and tournament title. They return essentially the whole team. They should be considered the team to beat in the A-10 and the first team mentioned from the league on our list. 32. VCU: The Rams never got the chance to play in the NCAA tournament due to COVID protocols. They will in 2022. www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2021-07-20/college-basketball-rankings-how-power-36-shifts-after-key-nba-draft-withdrawal

Imho, the one poll that truly matters is the AP, preseason edition.

This is good news. Inclusion in things like this - the Katz list as well as mention on several “Way-Too-Early” top 20 lists are the types of things we just don’t normally see including the Bonnies. We have been jealous of teams that seem to be automatically included in those lists - yes, Syracuse among others - whether justified or not. Maybe this is the start of these guys at least thinking about the Bonnies on a regular basis. Accept it for what it is - another step in the right direction by including us in the short list of programs that each year are presumed to be among the best in the country before we even play any games. That’s a group the Bonnies have never been a part of and membership in the group will open recruiting doors.

Imho, the one poll that truly matters is the AP, preseason edition. Like everyone else, I really enjoy seeing Bonnies being mentioned as a probable top 25 team. I agree with OHS73, looking forward to see if Bonnies make AP's preseason top 20. But the only AP poll that really matters is the Bonnie being in the final AP top 20 poll.

Happy to see that, but why is VCU ranked so high? Bones has left the program... Richmond has to be the clear cut #2 in the A-10. Jon Rothstein has Richmond 2 and VCU 3 in his recent prediction. Personally I think it is very close between VCU and Richmond. Both teams return 4 starters. VCU loses Bones, but Richmond also loses their leading scorer Blake Francis. Richmond adds Nick Sherod who missed his senior year, because of injury. Sherod is a double digit scorer, who has been a starter since his freshman year. VCU adds Marcus Tsohonis, who last year as a sophomore was Washington’s 2nd leading scorer. 2nd leading scorer for a PAC 12 team as a sophomore is impressive. If I had to choose, I would pick VCU 2nd and Richmond 3rd. Last year expectations for Richmond were high and then they finished 8th in the A-10. I think Richmond has been the most disappointing team in the A-10 in the last few years. Richmond's Chris Mooney has 2 losing seasons in the last 4, while Mike Rhoades worse season is 18 wins in his 4 seasons at VCU. Mooney only has 1 season in the last 4 to exceed 18 wins. I think and hoping A-10 has at least Bona, VCU and Ricmond making the Big Dance. If Mooney has another disappointing season, I think it will be his last at Richmond. collegehoopstoday.com/index.php/rothstein-files/atlantic-10-offseason-breakdown-2/www.sports-reference.com/cbb/conferences/atlantic-10/2021.html

I would completely agree that Richmond has been extremely disappointing... Mooney has to be on the hot seat... put up the billboards now!

I would completely agree that Richmond has been extremely disappointing... Mooney has to be on the hot seat... put up the billboards now! I think its possible they just weren't that good last year. They shot up the rankings in the short, chaotic OOC because they beat Kentucky & Vanderbilt. But Kentucky and Vanderbilt sucked really.
