I dont know the quality of competition here so I'm trying to temper my expectations (probably too late) but there is a highlight from one of his games where he literally goes through all 5 defenders to score and gets the "and 1" on top of it. amazing start at the 2:14 mark www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk0NaAPnpiIThat sequence was pretty good. But I watched the whole video. Capital W capital oh capital W!

Rumpel and Mellouck on a fast break should be worth a lookđ Can These two take a training session with Tyler? It looks like Rumpel could teach at his camp. Really quick on his tape and what appears to be a great handle, but remember, it is a highlight tape, so there may be a number of turnovers cut out from the video. Not sure about his shot. It is effective apparently, but is very high arching and slow released. I noted very few, if any, assists in his video, so hard to tell if he is a PG type guy, although you would think so with that handle. But that quickness and shot creating ability scream SG. Question the competition as he actually dribbled between the legs of some guys on the video.

Filling a 13th scholarship, and he is coming instead of going to Spire for a prep year. As a result, is it possible he red shirts? Spends a year playing against the current guys in practice, learns the system, gets a head start on his degree , and when the other guys leave, he is in good shape with four years to reach his potential. We may finally be at that point.

The no assists could be problem. Hoping it is a Kelly Leak in Bad News Bears doing everything to win for the team. Yes the actor who played Tanner was at Bona with me.

Another key recruit in a Bona class with talent and "po" I haven't seen before.

His high school numbers and AAU numbers are completely different. His team mate who was really good transferred to a prep school for senior year. It was on him to score.

Attached is JPâs article âBonnies land star Binghamton guard Rumpel.â It is an impressive write up. â Received offers from Binghamton, Fordham, George Washington and DePaul. â While recently generating interest from a host of Power 5 programs, including Florida and Virginia Tech. â Choosing to forgo a planned post-graduate year at SPIRE Institute in Ohio to reclassify to the Class of 2021 and enroll at Bona in the fall, where heâll presumably have the option to either play right away or redshirt. â FROM THE early stages, coach Mark Schmidt made it clear that, despite its recruiting haul to that point, Rumpel was a high priority. - In recent months, heâs garnered further attention for consistently being among the top players at AAU events that have involved several three- and four-star recruits. Rumpel shined as bright as the opposition, which featured five-star 2022 recruits Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren. www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/bonnies-land-star-binghamton-guard-rumpel/article_f5549b5e-e9cf-5f71-b8c2-5d498fe03562.html

We are all aware of the dangers of relying on highlight videos in that they do not show a playerâs warts or flaws. The one discussed above does the opposite. Brettâs stats show he rebounds and passes, including getting assists at a good rate. Plus I know I have seen other vids that regularly show off his passing and him generally not being a selfish player. And so much of his offense is pretty spectacular and fun to watch (and thus include in videos). So just because a particular vid doesnât happen to show any assists isnât the end of the discussion. Plus I donât think Schmidt would recruit a player who doesnât fit into his team-first concept, let alone use up the 13th âship, the one we know he prefers to hold back to save for the possible âfall surpriseâ who opens up late.

Attached is Chuckie Maggioâs article âEach of St. Bonaventureâs 2022 offers at the end of AAU season.â Article was written before Brett Rumple committed to Bona. Article adds further detail to what JP mentioned in his article. â JP stated Rumpel was gaining interest from a host of Power 5 programs, including Florida and Virginia Tech. Chuckie adds âJake Lieberman reported last week that Rumpel has since received interest from Florida, South Carolina, Penn, New Mexico, Virginia Tech and UIC.â â JP âin recent months, heâs garnered further attention for consistently being among the top players at AAU events that have involved several three- and four-star recruits. Chuckie adds âstrung together double-digit scoring performances in EYBL Session I. He finished a victory over The Family just two rebounds shy of a double-double, displaying his all-around game in an overtime triumph.â Chuckie's article has breakdown of 11 players Bona has made offers. pickinsplinters.com/2021/07/27/each-of-st-bonaventures-2022-offers-at-the-end-of-aau-season/

Both bigs look very impressive, particularly Peter Carey, who is very polished on offense.

Both bigs look very impressive, particularly Peter Carey, who is very polished on offense. Agreed. Careyâs interest/offers have started to blow up a little. I wonder how hard the staff goes after filling 4-5 shipsâŚwe think we have that many to fill, but does anyone take advantage of the extra year?
