Hello St. Bonaventure Fans, Since 2014, we—the students and professors of the Know Rivalry Project—have been studying sports rivalries in North America. Now we are expanding our research to College Hoops and could use your help. Please help us ensure that the St. Bonaventure Bonnies are included by taking 10 minutes to complete our updated survey: MBB: umassamherst.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3FdJ8eN2EgFCfCB?mbsrc=krdir&grpID=1472WBB: umassamherst.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3FdJ8eN2EgFCfCB?mbsrc=krdir&grpID=5601Our previous results in the US have been featured in numerous sports media outlets, as well as the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. You can view those results, links to media coverage, and learn more about us at knowrivalry.com/We use the Qualtrics online survey software for data collection. This academic research has been approved by two US universities' Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and it poses no risks to respondents. You'll find more information on the disclosure agreement that is required to start the survey. Thank you for helping us to include the Bonnies by participating and please feel free to share this with any other fans who may also be interested. The Little Three rivals from Buffalo and The Falls. Imho the original Big 4 included Duquesne. Remember, Bona used to play these foes twice every year 50s and 60s.
Niagara -- Armory/University (Reilly) Center, Student (Gallagher) Center Canisius -- The Aud (home/away) Duquesne -- The Aud, Civic Arena (aka "Homer Hall")
Ah, the good ol' days. Those were intense battles every season. High entertainment value.

Things change over time. I think most younger fans would consider the rival OOC to be Buffalo. Canisius and Niagara just aren't engaged enough any more to make this bigger than SUNY-Amherst at the moment.
When we play @ CC or NU, they struggle to sell out their 2,000 seat gym. Last time we played at Buffalo, they had over 6,200 people on a work night. Their fans don't like ours, nor do we like theirs. Granted, a lot of those fans were ours, but still.
In conference I feel the same about Duquesne. Not going to the tournament for the past 40 years has eroded their fan base. It's hard to call them a rival when all the effort is on our side.
I'm tempted to say VCU is our biggest conference rival, but will opt for Joes. Nonetheless, we don't have any hardcore A10 rivals. Can't be Dayton because we never beat them. Can't be SLU because we never see or interact with their fans.

It’s an appropriate question. I am guessing virginia commonwealth is in the dc area, but not really sure..How can a school be a rival if you don’t know where it is. It is a big state schoo a couple of states. Away. Ub does have competitiveness, regionality and draw potential, but it also us a big state school Niagara, Canisius,Duquesne and st.Joe’s are all in a competitive slump right now. Most of the schools in the A 10 right now are relationships of convenience more than natural rivals. Playing northern Iowa seems like playing South Korea to me.

Yes, VCU is in the DC area just as Cayuga Community College in Auburn is in the Buffalo area. I shudder to contemplate where you consider Davidson to be.

I would pick VCU as BONA's biggest conference rival, but here it is Wednesday afternoon, and no one has started a VCU Game Thread yet!
