let's just hope WILLIE SOMERSET doesn't show up to play tonight! If there was a 3pt rule back in SOMERSET’s day, he would have scored 70 against the Bonnies that one night! very true SIP, very true.i loved him as a player against anyone else but the BONNIES, then i hated him.

I recall that as a freshman, ‘Shoon set the record for rebounds (with 22 I think) in the Palumbo Center. Now the same building is the UPMC Cooper field house and I’d like to see him set the record there tonight. We need him controlling the boards and keeping Williams from being effective.

Willie was a GREAT player. Man could he score the ball. I still remember Willie torching us for, I believe 47 points at the Aud, in a 97-95 win for the Bonnies in the 63/64 season. No matter who we put on him, he was unstoppable.

We have won the last 14 of 17 games BUT 10 of our wins were 4 pts or less. DUKES almost always play us tough.
6'10" ROTRUFF's board play will be missed. He was playing 19 mpg in conference play and 2nd to WILLIAMS in rebs. He missed the Dayton game where DUKES lost by 20.
They are # 10 reb margin at -1.1. We are # 7 @ +2.6
They are # 11 PPG (69) and # 11 PPG defense (72). We are a far cry from last year's #1 stifling D (59ppg). Allowing 71 (#6) this season.
They are a young team with freshman SPEARS (17.7ppg) and JOHNSON (14 ppg) leading their scoring in conference play.
SPEARS and AYERS attack, draw lots of fouls and live on the stripe.
34% of their shots are TREYS making 33%. EASLEY (40%), JOHNSON III (43%) and ACUFF (50%) can hurt you.
For a young team they only turn it over 11.1 a game and create 13 TOs by their opponents.
Soph Tre Williams blocks 2.5 shots a game.
The condition of KYLE's ankle will be a huge factor in how well we play. After he tweaked it early in the 18 pt loss to Dayton he was unable to cut & attack the rim. A big part of his game. Due to his reduced mobility he could not drive to finish or get easy assists. His inability to streak to the iron resulted in him never getting to the stripe. When does that ever happen when healthy?

Another key here will be HOLMES, while at BONAS he seems to comeback stronger the next games after a poor game.

No matter who we put on him, he was unstoppable. You are close...46 pts. Set the Aud record and unless another cager came along and broke it til the Aud closed, it's the mark for all time.

I remember Willie as a bowling ball build with a huge smile of pearly whites.

Good start defensively. Love seeing Shoon’s dominating down low. Phenomenal positioning on each rebound.

I had posted that I expected team to try a few different things tonight (not use of bench, of of course)--and in first two minutes Welch drove for basket (which he almost never does) and Osun drove on the baseline (was blocked, but at least tried). Osun just now with unusually strong move to basket and sky hook. Surely they did need to mix things up as scouting reports probably had them well pegged...

So far, Shoon is getting after it. That's what he's gotta do...be involved! Get the board and finish above the rim.

Swarming Bona D at the outset. Let's knock down some open looks off Duke turnovers.
