After KYLE has returned to action following his high ankle sprain, he appears to be moving well. There is nothing noticeable in favoring the ankle as he runs the floor. There is certainly no discernible restriction in his movement. But I have watched several rewinds focusing just on his movements and I see a different player. He is unable to explode to the rim, cut sharply and stop on a dime for his highly effective pull up J. His numerous trips to the stripe, created by attacking the iron, has virtually disappeared. In two consecutive games he got to the line once. Very unlike KYLE. I feel the ankle has restricted him from playing his game. Hopefully it will get stronger and we will see him attacking the rim again which is a big part of any PGs game.
What I am seeing is reflected in his numbers.
KYLE’s 5 games (starting with Boise State), just before his injury, compared with the 5 games after his return from injury shows a different player. First # is before injury and second # is after his return.
PPG 17.6/11, FGs 51%/25%, TREY % 39/30, A/TO Ratio 2.6/1.56, FT% 94/66
This across the board drop off I believe is a result of his ankle hindering him from exploding to the paint creating, finishing & getting to the line.
Hope he avoids further injury and that it heals completely.

Very reminiscent of Jay’s senior year. It seemed Jay finally got healthy late in January and into February, but then a re-aggravation in the A10 tournament has him going in the wrong direction heading into March Madness. He had a big time pull up J against UCLA late to help us advance, but his numbers were really bad overall those last couple games and he also stopped driving to the rim.
Bona senior ankle injury curse…add it to the WNY list of sports curses

If he was healthy against Davidson in the first round A-10 tourney game, we would have not had a problem dispatching the Wildcats in the first round and probably getting the bid to the NCAAs...

Coach - Check that. I believe he turned his ankle covering GIBBS DURING the Davidson game. Pose was hot and had 32 points that game. I will never understand why Coach had Posely guarding GIBBS rather than Taquee in that contest. I believe we were up 8 or so when Posely went down midway thru the 2nd half. He came back but wasn't the same. We still should have gotten an at large bid - that was a travesty.

Lofton playing on his bad ankle hurts his outside shot, slashing to the rim and his defense. It is a shame because he is a fierce competitor and our leader. This type of injury will plague him all season. Bad break for him.

well towards the end Kyle stole a pass and stripped the pg the next time down. He has never ever had a 3 point shot. He hasn't. And on top of it we were out hustled and 5 seniors still don't know how to box out. you don't always have to jump and try and slap the ball out to the top of the key. boxing out is one of the easiest basketball moves you can ever learn. None of them know how to do it. Not one. It's the smartest/easiest play in basketball that involves know athleticism or energy. AND WE DON'T DO IT.

time to start realizing this team wasn't as great as the hype. We don't have shooting in a college game that every team has really good 3 point shooters. Osun is not nicholson and can't take over a game. Put the ball in adaway and loftons hands. Oh and we aren't deep. They fall behind then they are to tired to really come back. Whatever it is this team will have to win the a-10 tourney to make the tournament. Also, with probably no bye. So, yeah, chalk it up
