Post an odd in game memory. I was thinking about this a few days ago, didnt know how I would know what team we were playing or when it was, but yet a few days later it popped up in my face.. Here was my tweet:
Feb 22, 2012
Due to a bent rim, a replacement basket was added in bonas vs fordham. #Bonas will have 2nd half with no shotclock on the basket. Lame
Per game notes (https://static.fordhamsports.com/custompages/stats/mbb/2011-12/formbb26.htm):
Game delayed for 52 minutes at the 5:58 mark of the 1st half due to broken rim

As I recall it, the rim was bent by a Fordham player in warmups which delayed the start of the game. Not sure of the year, but remember a game in the 1960s in the Aud where the rim was bent in the first half of the game and they were unable to replace it. Bonnies had to shoot at a bent rim in the second half.

Not necessarily "odd", but being at Niagara to see the full court basket by Delmar Harrod after a missed FT to send the game in OT (1979?) was unforgetable! I was among those students behind the near basket with a direct line of sight and saw the net "jump" as the ball passed through the rim............

That game was outrageous!! The pinnacle of our Little Three rivalry with Niagara. Most Bonnie fans were behind the one basket that Niagara player Chick Lyles was shooting at with a one-and-one with a two point Niagara lead with very little time left. (Don't remember the exact amount but only time for one more long full length court heave...like 1.2 seconds remaining??) I remember Lyles laughing as he was going to the line for his first shot which, if he had made it, would seal the win for Niagara (before 3 point shot was added to the college game.) He missed it, Delmar grabbed it and heaved it towards the other end. The Bonnie faithful and I stood there watching in disbelief as that ball went down the full length of the court and went in!! The next question was if it counted...Did he get the ball off in time? The court was mobbed by Niagara fans who thought the game was over when they heard the horn and didn't see the shot and our team and some Bonnie fans who saw the ball go in. I remember one of my roommates who was part of the Bonnie team, Lloyd Praedel, telling me about him being on the court amid the mob signaling with his teammates that the basket was good. The officials finally made it to the table and agreed that the ball went in...Tie game! We still had a struggle winning it in overtime as Delmar had to make another shot at the end of overtime to win it for us...This time a little closer to the basket...LOL. I think that was the loudest crowd I have ever been apart of because in OT, I remember we scored a basket and all of a sudden, a shooting pain went through my head, the likes I never felt before! Didn't stop me from celebrating the big win, however...Bona dorms were full of partiers all that night and morning!
