Glad to see this investment in the school’s future and in remaining competitive for new students. The article references creating a $2.5M Health and Wellness Center without any specifics as to where this will be housed. Maybe the long-awaited future use of Butler Gym?

Cerhav : Any idea of the difference between the Richter Center and the proposed "Health and Wellness Center"? Think Health Services. Where students go to see a nurse or other practitioner. Is it still located in Doyle hall? Contemporary facilities at other universities include imaging, nutritional and mental health services.

That’s how all the building projects have been financed the last 20 years or so.

Industrial Development Agency (IDA) usage is often for commercial construction to get things like - waivers of sales tax on construction material - real estate tax breaks for a period of usually up to 10 years Not quite sure how that might apply to a tax exempt entity like SBU.

Haven’t seen or heard any updates on the project, including whether the agency approved it and if work is still expected to start after this year’s graduation. Can anyone provide an update?

University officials met with the Cattaraugus County IDA today and the loan was approved. The projects mentioned in the first post of this thread are a go commencing this summer. Still undecided is the Health and Wellness Center.

Still undecided is the Health and Wellness Center. per today's OTH: "the 25 million dollar bond issue will be used to renovate Plassman Hall, renovate space on the second floor of Francis Hall for a 5,200 square foot health and wellness center, renovate and buy new equipment for University Townhouses Phases 1,2 and 3, replacing the electrical and plumbing infrastructure and campus-wide roof replacement, HVAC improvements and undergraduate housing improvements."

Don’t always believe what you read in the OTH. The Health and Wellness Center location has yet to be determined.
