Robert Jennings is a6’7” 225 lb forward , Was homeschooled and played AAU basketball in Texas, signing with Texas Tech back in November, Robert saw limited minutes with the red Raiders during the 2022/2023 season. Hard to make much of his statistics at Tech, his minutes went from 15 minutes one game to three minutes in another, the average a little less than eight minutes per game, PPG 2.7, again hard to read much into who’s your tech. It looks to me like he is seeking a redo. Robert had offers from TCU Texas A&M Missouri and Ole Miss. He was determined to be a four-star recruit coming out of high school.

I feel like Schmidt is looking for his next Jalen Adaway and is telling us that he missed him this past season. Looks like we are looking at a bunch of PF/SF but on the smaller side for PFs.

Portal Report says we’ve reached out to NC Central Guard Justin Wright (along with 25+ schools, some P5s).
Not sure we have a chance at him. But it’s very interesting that we’re targeting a 6-1 guard with only 1 year (plus Covid year) of eligibility. He’s not a point guard, either. Shot the ball over the last 2 years — above 50% on his 2’s (low competition but it tells me he’s pretty damn athletic) and over 40% on his 3’s. Pure scorer who appeared to rebound decently for his size.

I saw Jamir Nelson was in the portal. Dating back to GW and now at Delaware, I really like his game, it’s not Coach Schmit s style to over recruit somebody, but I really think Nelson is a special player, who knows he may return to GW. I also noted Elijah Hutchins, a PSA guy that we might have offered6’11” 270 Who is in the portal after a year At Austin Peay. I keep coming back to the power forward role, and there are IMO, Some really good candidates,Buru Naivalurua, Elijah Strong, Tyson Brown, Myles Thompson and I really like Tyler Houser 6’9” 235 young man from PA, who played his first year arVMI, LIKE Strong and Naivalurua, Tyler can bang down low but also spread the floor and shoot the three. He appears to be a real worker bee, gym rat. Fingers crossed.
Not rooting for any of our guys to leave, but I think it s inevitable. The big difference, in terms of where we’re at now is that we’re not starting to assemble a team at the beginning of May.

I was a big fan of Dom Campbell coming out of HS...especially since he is from MAINE! He played aau in my home state of MA for the Middlesex Magic. He went under the radar for a while but then blew up to a 4 star recruit. I am curious why he didn't play much this past year and if he was hampered by injuries? He did not play against us but maybe he was impressed by our win. He would definitely be prepared for the Allegany, NY weather! I would definitely take him! solid PF and plays a little old school. He doesn't fit the Cuse style but curious if he will look to go where is former teammate went.

ND was my "safe" school. Hope he is up to the rigors of the Bona Education. Go Bonas!
Also on a completely different note, I saw in an email from the school that we (alumns and friends of SBU) have raised $94M of the $125M goal for a Bolder Bonaventure. That is unbelievable great news!
And lastly, from the same email, something close to my heart (my liver, and my waistband)
FACILITIES: The most recent campus upgrade was hard to imagine for anyone who spent time at The Rathskeller as a student. At the conclusion of the Board meeting on Saturday, we had lunch at The ‘Skeller, the campus bar in the basement of Hickey Dining Hall. The face lift was staggering, from the new bar, games, TVs, lighting and sound system to the new flooring, ceiling and wall art. It’s already become a popular gathering place, not only for students but for ticket holders before and after Bonnies games.

Well, to begin with we could always use another Dom. While I am uncertain if there is mutual interest, I take a look at some of the video footage from Dom prepping at Middlesex, MA and the fact that he had a chance to watch Chad Venning when we matched up with Notre Dame in December, and said to himself, this guy has found a place where he can develop, that’s what I’m looking for. I can’t help but project putting Campbell on the floor with Venning. Campbell loosstrong enough to play sometime at the 5 as well. If the staff can make the look what Venning has done pitch, there s exhibit A. If Campbell wants to re-start his career, we ve got the minutes, and he plugs into a group that really needed another offensive option in our half court offense. Dom and a big guard/wing like babies Jonson out of whiny Young in Chicago, along with miles Rose and an improved Melian Martinez and we re back in the game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5-w3Z1l2PQ

We, and virtually every other A10 program, will be in on any decent player with a pulse. Until a kid visits, it doesn't really matter if we've been in contact with them or not. Most of these kids are in contact with 20+ schools.
At the moment, I think we only have ONE opening. Assume we will see at least 1-2 departures.

It does matter if we are in contact with players that address our two deficiencies, SCORING and REBOUNDING.
Of course "being in contact" means very little in predicting our chances of getting the recruit. However NOT BEING IN CONTACT guarantees the recruit is not going to visit.
The visit is a vital step in getting what we need. Chris Scheppner does a great tour for visiting recruits!
A10 teams will be seeking players with far more than a pulse.
