Not 100% sure, but sounds like the gaming industry is self-regulating itself with NIL. They seem to be wary of potential issues that will develop by having minors affiliated with their casinos and resorts. Others probably know more than I.
Below is a report from March 28th. Not sure if this is official yet or still in the works … or just applies to casinos and not necessarily online betting apps like FanDuel, DraftKings etc:
The U.S. gambling industry is adopting a new responsible marketing code that will ban sports books from partnering with colleges to promote sports wagering, bar payments to college and amateur athletes for using their name, image or likeness, and end the use of the terms "free" or "risk-free" to describe promotional bets.

Based on the start, there’s reason to think all the negativity of the BW expert’s predictions about the NIL ruining Bona hoops is completely wrong. Since the NIL rules have been in place, we’ve gotten a 4 star recruit in Yann Farrell, several highly sought after transfers (Banks, Pride), and now another 4 (or higher?) star recruit in Duane Thompson who even reclassified to come to Bonas now. So this cannot be true, right? The BW has concluded by consensus (admittedly, me included) that the NIL rules will result in disaster or major trouble for our progrem, but the actual results are showing that we are thriving. When have we ever had recruiting success like this? Could the logical conclusion be that many of the experts here are wrong? Is that possible and if so, what does it say about the actual expertise of these experts? There needs to be an investigation about who is behind these lies about Pride and Thompson and label them as liars so we don’t get fooled again.

Ceharv- We are most definitely in the NIL game. We aren’t and won’t ever be in as deep as P5s and even some A10 brethren but we are in. Our collective just added a Twitter account and will soon have a website Hopefully, as it becomes visible, more and more Bonnie fans consider chipping in. NIL, like most other facets of Bona fund raising, cannot become too reliant on the same small pool of people

Just read an article that a Duke former commit signed with Indiana, and I have some random thoughts - not all tied to NIL - even the "elite" teams are having problems with the new "normal". While it can be argued that Duke is no longer elite, I think losing a commit to Indiana is surprising
- there are alot of top players from top teams that still go into the portal, looking for something different. We are the beneficiary of that this year with our new guard. None of us saw that happening
- Some players are staying in "school" (ok playing college BB, dont know how much school they go to) because NIL is probably more $ than they can make playing at a level below NBA
- I read that several top WBB are staying in school - like Clark in Iowa - because the NIL is better $ than the WNBA.
- College BB has yet settled down to a new normal.

Daddio - I agree with you for the most part, but I think your last point above may be a bit premature ... It will take a few more years before we see the net effect of NIL on college Hoops - the "new normal" has yet to be determined (IMO). As for the impact of NIL on our beloved alma mater - a 14 win season is all we have to show for it thus far. Lets see how this season plays out before we proclaim that the Brown Indians are "thriving" in this new NIL world. I still see the P5s picking up Mid-Major proven players, and the Mid-Majors reaching down a level to secure talent. The good news for us is that we (so far) have kept from getting raided by P5s this off-season. I can see CHAD becoming a P5 target if he improves on his 2022-23 season. 1 season does not a trend make.

The St Bonaventure Bonnies going to the MAAC or Division 2 is a terrible idea. I am a Bonnies fan when they came to the old Buffalo Memorial Auditorium long before I went to Canisius College to school. The MAAC is terrible basketball compared to the Atlantic 10 conference. I want Canisius University and Niagara University to build new athletic centers than apply for A-10 expansion. Our Griffs fans don’t like the MAAC if we could get in the Atlantic 10 Conference like the Bonnies we do it in a minute.
Western New York specifically Buffalo and Niagara Falls isn’t a MAAC town. The Bonnies would lose all their television coverage nationally in the MAAC. I don’t think this poster is serious? Who would want to drop down from the Atlantic 10 Conference? It’s the opposite for this Bonnies fan I wish the Bonnies could get into the Big East Conference so I want the opposite. To make the Bonnies more competitive on the national championship level not division 2 in my opinion. Go Bonnies! Let’s Go Buffalo
