I didn't know what thread to post this on, put I thought it warranted a thumbs up to Chad. Chad, from I can tell is engaged in some type of big man training, or perhaps it's just Chad working out this past week with some individualized skill building help. The clip as less than a minute, I don't recognize the background, so I don't know if this is on campus or not, truth be told I've never been in the other rec center, I'm sure someone out there would. Anyway I couldn't get the short clip of Chad, putting in the time working on his post up game, if you'd like to take a glance, you can just check out SBU Unfurled's tweets within the last couple of hours and find it. Chad looks great. He looks a little quicker to me, but with do I really know. The point is simply that I believe to a man, this group is committed to improve. Look no further than the newest Bonnie's improvement on his shooting between his junior and senior year at Cincinnati, Mika improved his fg % by 9+ %, and his three ball % by almost 10+%, how? by putting in extra time. This might seem like a small thing, but if you're a solid player and can up your game, any little edge IMO, grabbing an additional board, hitting a higher percentage of your shots, when you can do this collectively, quite simply it gives you the chance to win more games. Tip of the hat to Chad, somebody just happened to get us a glimpse of his work this week. My assumption based on the words Hoop Tech, was that it was in Ohio, specialized training, like a big man's camp.

In relation to the video posted (Jack Stevens and Chad Venning). His first step appears to much quicker! Yes, I realize he is not going against defensive pressure.

Games in the winter are won this time of year by working your butt off. You love to see it.
With Venning's soft hands and touch around the hoop, if he adds more moves to his repertoire like that he could be deadly in the post. Like 18-20 a night deadly

Seeing Chad in this condition is very encouraging! What a physical transition the guys has made over the past few years, he deserves a ton of credit. He is building a body for a professional career and should be well suited for a big year in the A10.
I wonder if Chad is working on his mid-range and even long-range game. We don't want him on the perimeter hoisting 10 3"s a game, but he seemed to have a soft touch when he popped a few mid-range jumpers. With his growing explosiveness getting to the hoop, if a defender gives him too much room he may have an opportunity to hit some open shots outside of the lane.
What a find by the Bonnies and what a tribute to a guy putting in a ton of hard work. Look out A10, here comes CV!

I liked Venning's game before he came to SBU due to his scoring efficiency in limited minutes at Morgan State, but he has definitely exceeded my expectations as a Bonnie.
He's without a doubt our best returning starter, and if he can continue to improve his stamina while staying out of foul trouble, I think he can be a 16 pts / 8 rebs a game guy for us.

CHAD continues to demonstrate an awesome commitment to raise his game. His body transformation has been remarkable and represents tremendous hard work and sacrifice.
The potential to increase his scoring from 13.4 ppg to 16 ppg, as predicted by Chrismoses, is quite possible. I am concerned about his rebs increasing from 5.6 to 8 a game. Hopefully his improved stamina and increased speed and mobilty will bring those results.
Scoring and rebounding were team problems last season. Our reb margin was a miserable -3.4 rebs. And putting up a meager 67 pts cost us many games. Our big man grabbing the most rebs at just 5.6 was problematic. Worst in the A10. BANKS, a guard, grabbed 4.1.
In CHAD's final 2 years I see him continuing to improve and challenging to be one of the top centers in the conference.

In his short work out video I was glad to see him finishing with his left hand (4 of his moves to the hoop). If he could improve his skill in finishing with his off hand down low he will be harder to defend. Right now you can overplay him going right. Needs many more reps than seen here to develop finishing with his left.

Sorry, saw the tweet and w/o looking assumed it was Chad. I couldn't figure out how to remove the tweet, so I guess I/we are providing free publicity for Jack.

Watching Miami Heat last night reminded me of the Bonnies. Miami was a team of jump shooters, with very few drives to the basket. This resulted in a total of 2 free throws for the game. Just 2 made free throws? How is this possible? Well the Bonnies made 3 free throws twice last season. Like the Heat, Bonnies were a team of jump shooters with few quality drives to the basket. This led Bonnies to being last in the A-10 in free throw differential. Opponents attempted an incredible 171 more free throws than the Bonnies. Lack of drives to the basket, also resulted in Bonnies being 2nd to last in A-10 in assists. Hoping Charles and Mika make a difference. Attempting shots inside the arc is an important part of Charles and Mika’s game. Shooting inside the 3 point arc. — Daryl 38.7% — Kyrell 38.2% — Mika 49.6% — Charles 52.4% www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401544846www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/st-bonaventure/men/2023-gamelogs.htmlatlantic10.com/stats.aspx?path=mbball&year=2022
