Tough going for small traditionally Catholic schools at any level. Just not enough traditional Catholics to go around.

Will the last person leaving Olean PLEASE turn-off the lights. I have been home for the last month - the place is like a ghost town. Olean has become an expiring Put option in an up market. Parents, relatives and friends are telling their children to get out of town and find a future outside of New York State that is being ruined by those in Albany. ( how many thousands are moving out weekly ) Make Western and Central New York, its own FREE State ! www.eadeswallpaper.com/webcam.php

Niagara Falls used to be on the box of every Nabisco Shredded Wheat. Wonder whatever happened to to that factory. Come to think of it, Olean had a Nabisco plant on Reed Street. Have to drive by to see if it's still in business.

The line stretches to the PA border. On a Friday night in Olean all the eateries are swamped! Beef and Barrel, Mirchi, Angees Grand Slam, you name it. You seem to see things only through your distorted lens and it is wearing thin. There is a lot happening in Olean. Too bad you don’t see it.

Completely disagree with recent descriptions of Olean. Unlike downtown NF, Olean is a vibrant, inviting and attractive small city. In the last 5-10 years there has been a lot of development and downtown revitalization. Many renovated buildings are now occupied. Gone is the stretch below the tracks with many run down bars and buildings.
Like many cities in the northeast Olean has lost industrial jobs, but Olean has filled many of these factories with other businesses. Olean Tile Plant and AVX are the only factories I can think of that remain vacant. CIMOLIA-HY has purchased Dresser Clark/Siemen. They have started renovating the property in February. Even Manny Hanny, Olean’s signature building has been renovated with high end apartments. There is a lot of construction down pass Tops on West State Street with new restaurants and businesses.
You need to walk downtown and you will see several outside patios, attractive stores and restaurants. Olean’s revitalization has been impressive in the last 5-10 years.
Frequently a live video of Olean is shown on Buffalo’s morning shows. Dunga has posted about Olean’s live video. Checking it out for yourself and you will see a very attractive small city.

Olean is a Wonderful place to live, that's why I am here. Fact remains is the City has lost thousands jobs and people over the last 20 years along with craftsmen.
This is my opinion.
I want to see the 2500 jobs that was lost at Dresser, return of the 3 shifts at the Tile Plant the return of AVX on Seneca and all of those over businesses that have moved on.
It's so nice to see so many passionate Oleanders. Bring back the Central Hotel, The Brown Bear, The Wooden Nickel and The Pickenny
Thanks Guys please unruffled your feathers.

There is A LOT of good stuff happening back home. Farmers Market and concerts in Lincoln Park bring people in droves.
Friday nights always special w folks going out to eat.
Old businesses leave and new ones enter, that's capitalism. Olean still has the rails to move freight.
But there is one constant for which we can all agree...Bonas.
