Today is the 800th Anniversary of the stigmata of St. Francis of Assisi, our Patron Saint.
St Francis was the first person in history to bear all wounds of Christ on the Cross.
I have checked the SBU campus news site and the events, and nothing is listed to commemorate this incredible day. Not one single word.
Again, but I bet that there will be a celebration for the far left events like free abortion day, or BLM day or Antifa Revolt day or George Floyd day or DEI day............pathetic, just pathetic.
You would think that someone in Hopkins Hall would get the message.....this is a Catholic University founded on the tenets of St Francis.
This event should have been celebrated on campus.

The Stigmata was celebrated at the daily mass on EWTN. The responsorial psalm was special. Actually it was not a psalm today but part of an epistle by St. Paul. The priest wore white vestments with brown trim. Yes, the Stigmata was celebrated today.

Hey Skeller 6: Unfortunately, very unfortunately, many priest have told me and others that Catholic universities are Catholic in name only. For instance, at Fordham the crucifixes were removed from classrooms lest non-Christian students would be offended. At Georgetown IHS was removed for a political photo op. I'm afraid it boils down to money. However, a small remembrance at the chapel would have been appropriate, especially with the famous Franciscan statues outside. I think the occasion was overlooked. It was not overlooked on EWTN.

The priest wore white vestments with brown trim. So glad it wasn’t those alternative gray vestments.

Its a very distressing situation at Bonas and all Catholic colleges and universities. Shaming themselves for being Catholic....just pathetic. There should have been a formal procession on campus on this anniversary, instead there was silence from the second floor of Hopkins Hall. Not one official word or gesture...........that is completely unacceptable. Yet the second floor continuously endorses DEI and its anti Catholic, anti Christian, anti American rhetoric.............completely unacceptable in every single way.........either practice our faith or renounce it.....no one is neutral in this conflict........

I haven't been to Mass at the University Chapel in a long time. On the left side of the altar is there not a carving of St. Francis receiving the Stigmata? Maybe it is something else. This October 4th, a special mention of this 800th anniversary of our Patron receiving the Stigmata should be included in the Mass. This would make up for yesterday's oversight.

I will be going to mass this Sunday at his shrine in Assisi. I would expect this anniversary will be celebrated then.
