I disagree. I think today was clear he made a terrible decision. That team doesn’t play defense and doesn’t run many offensive sets. He’s not going to grow as a player Set plays? And they don’t play defense? That’s your arguments? How many set plays did we run for Barry? ZERO. He made a decision because he’s playing 30 mpg, and here he would be playing 5 or 10 minutes? He wasn’t growing here and didn’t have much role. He has a role at Bryant and he likely will get better. A few people seem bitter about Barry leaving — just weird. Ok I’m not bitter by the way, I didn’t like him talking trash down 20 points today, sure. And if he wants 30 minutes in the America East that’s cool I guess. But I honestly felt a little bad for him today because that doesn’t look like a good situation

Barry behaved immaturely and got his comeuppance. Perhaps he will learn a valuable lesson from this outing.

One somewhat worrisome thing from today - zero PT for Bolanga. I’d like to see him become a valuable contributor.

Bona is 1 of just 5 A10 teams that are undefeated.
Only our Bonnies and LOYOLA have won 6 games.
We are allowing 62.5 PPG (#3)
Our FG% is #4 @ .474
Reb Margin (even after today's - 5) # 3 @ +7.2
Blocks # 4
Steals #4
TREY % struggling but improving to #10 @ 32%
FTs struggling but also improving # 9 @ .698

All players who transfer get amped up to play their former teams. Barry’s a great kid - still young in terms of experience. Happy he found a program where he has an opportunity to grow. I disagree. I think today was clear he made a terrible decision. That team doesn’t play defense and doesn’t run many offensive sets. He’s not going to grow as a player Your post suggests the fault was with Barry and not with us.

The captains carried the Bonnies today. Brown and Council Jr were great.
I’d hate to see Edwards or Bolanga fall out of the rotation. I think both can be contributors. This is the time of year where Schmidt settles in to playing the same 7/8 guys.

I was impressed by Evans and Bryant. I think they can compete for a title in the America East.
With that said, I’m not sure I’d want Evans over any of our regular rotation guys.
Barry seems improved, but he played out of control most of the game tonight. Still would have liked to see him stick it out for another year at SBU, but he could easily find himself in position to be in the NCAAs this year.
Don’t really feel bad about him leaving SBU. A- East might be more of his speed. Boo him or cheer him…not sure many Bona fans will think twice about him going forward

Noel was the MVP, but Melvin's defense played a big role in this game. Observations from Bryant game. Surprises — Where was Bryant’s zone? Thought for certain Bonnies 2 big runs early in the 2nd half would lead to a zone by Bryant. How will Bonnies do against a zone from a good team. Thankfully we will have to wait longer to find the answer. — Didn’t expect a 15 point win against Bryant. Bryant's 2 losses have been OT and 1 point. The early big run in the 2nd half is the best I’ve seen the Bonnies play this year. Perfect timing with next game against Utah State. — Bryant’s tall front lihe was NO match against Noel. He just dominated them underneath. Reminiscent of Noel against Melian in pickup games last year. Noel was too strong for them. Noel had a slow start this season, but has really picked it up. Here is Noel’s points against D-1 opponents (in order) 8, 10, 13, 15 and 22. Do you see a trend? Hopefully it stays in double digits. — Bonnies incredible 3 point shooting occurred against a team allowing just 31.9% from 3s. Bonnies actually shot better from 3s (57.1%) than the field (56.1%). They even shot 81.3% from the free throw line. Keys to game — Bonnies completely slowing down Bryant’s fast break. On fast breaks they averaged 20.2 points per game. Last night Bryant had 4. — Bonnies defensive rebounding was a big reason in slowing down Bryant’s fast break. Bryant averages an extremely impressive 44 rebounds per game. Bonnies limited them to 34. — Bonnies shot a season best 56.1% from the field and this is against a Bryant defense allowing just FG 37.9% the 47th best in the nation. — Melvin’s defense and Rafael Pinzon’s foul trouble. The 6’6” PG is Bryant’s leading scorer at 18.0 ppg. He is a deadly shooter from both the floor and 3s. His height was a difficult match up for 6’2” Dasonte. Pinzon scored 7 of Bryant’s first 9 points. He quickly picks up his 2nd foul with just 3 minutes and 3 seconds played. Stays on bench until 7:32 mark. Schmidt makes a change and has Melvin guarding Pinzon. He doesn’t score another point in the half. At 3:16 mark Pinzon commits his 3rd foul. When on the court, Melvin defended Pinzon in the 2nd half. Despite his hot start, Pinzon finished with 13 points on 5-14 shooting from the field. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/bryant/men/2025.htmlbryantbulldogs.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats

I was impressed with Barry’s rapid improvement. FJS has an interesting comparison to Dion, which I question. Dion had slow, but steady growth every season. -- As a freshman started at 2.8 ppg. Sophomore season 8.7, 13.5 and 16.7 ppg as a senior. -- Barry on the otherhand showed minimal improvement at Bona 3.0 ppg as a freshman to 3.3 ppg as a sophomore. -- He improved by an impressive 10.5 ppg at Bryant for a 13.8 ppg scoring average. This doesn't compare to Dion's slow but steady growth. I wonder if Barry would be a star at Bona like he is at Bryant. I wish Barry would have stayed, but he probably made the right decision for himself. Wish him the best of luck. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/dion-wright--1.htmlwww.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/barry-evans-1.html

After watching a replay of the game it confirmed, for me, the most exciting moment of the game. In the first half MEL's defensive frenzy while guarding his man, pumping up the crowd as he screamed after a stop and pumped his arms wildly side to side. Watching his aggressive D with speed, length and enthusiasm is a joy. He displays such emotion when his man gets totally flummoxed by his pressure. His display stirred up the crowd and his teammates as we immediately went on a run.
In addition to his stifling defense (2 steals) he had a terrific offensive game 8-14, 2-3 TREYS for 18 pts. His slashing and finishing abilities impress. Now if he can hit the TREY at a better rate he will be another scoring threat alongside CHANCE. His TREY shooting has gotten better and now is at 32%, 4th best.
