scout says we are not in his top 4. New A-10 member Charlotte is, along with 3 Big East schools.

Depressing. We aren't on the lists of Tyrell, Robert Garrison, or Jonathan Flynn, all of whom play for Niagara Falls High School. I don't know which way is up anymore. I'm usually an optimist when it comes to recruiting, but I'm now paranoid that anyone we sign will ask for his release shortly thereafter. Hopefully Coach Solomon can land a gem or two this fall.

All of those NFHS guys are going for Big East schools, that is a territory we can't touch. We are not a Big East School. All Bonaventure can offer is playing time and a chance to develop. We can't offer to play in the best conference in the country.

Bonas offers so much more than PT and development. If a kid works hard he not only learns how to make a living but also how to live. It's a faith based education and preparation for life. We have to not only sell a kid the great history of our bball program but the great history of what Bonaventure is all about, the Enchanted Mts., Mt. Iraneaus, Thomas Merton, the Franciscan way of life. Baron knew all this and lived it. Solomon and his staff have yet to fully appreciate this bigger picture not because they don't accept it but it takes time for someone to fully appreciate its meaning. Given time it will come for him too. When a kid buys in to that meaning they will stay.

........ if only that were true this would be a wonderful world. We should make our selling point the beautiful foliage! Don't get me wrong, I truly love all of those things about Bonaventure that you mentioned bonawolf, but it's after experiencing them that you truly relish them. It's hard to get a person to appreciate something like that in a couple visits and some sweet talk. Every school is promising these kids the world. As sad as it is to say, the fan base, crowds, and Reilly Center are better selling points.

Flynn and Harris both committed to SU yesterday.

This is unfortunate...Solomon needs to enlist the support of Tim Winn who is back in the area and is Paul Harris' cousin. Tim knows all the NF high school players and they adore him.I asked if coach ever asked him to assist with the NF kids and he said no. He also added that Paul Harris was a big Bonnie fan while and after Tim was at SBU but "all the problems" turned him off.

great point swede..harris, at the tender age of 19 has been arrested for possession of coke/crack and for domestic battery involving his 23 yr old girlfriend. the reality is that the last recruits that sbu grabbed that received any real interest from the big east were timmy winn and cas. now that the big east has grabbed depaul, marquette, cinncy and 'ville, their recruiting tentacles will reach even further...just look at SU's roster..every year at least two guys depart due to lack of PT..cant say that i blame them for trying to play big east ball at SU, but in the end, most are recruited over....oh, for rosie bouie and cliff warwell !!

the reality is that the last recruits that sbu grabbed that received any real interest from the big east were timmy winn and cas. AJ Hawkins was being recruited by Providence, in fact Providence was AJ's first choice until the Friars signed 2 heralded players, playing the same position as AJ. Have to compete with the "Big 5" conferences for talented recruits, because sometimes you get lucky, like Solomon did with AJ.
