Fordham will provide an interesting test. They are fair, though showing some signs of life, inside. As a result they shoot a good number of threes. The danger in that is if they are on , the Rams could be a tough out. Point guard Jio Fortan (a great kid I got to know through officiating some of his scrimmages and summer games) is a future star in this league. At the point he directs the attack very well and will look for his shot if needed. Rams have improved in latter weeks but given the Bonnies start, especially away from home and presence of Nicholson inside (not to mention a few good guards of their own), have to be considered the favorite. By the way, ran into Anthony Solomon while covering ND-St.John's on Saturday. He is doing well and said spending last year in Dayton helped him a great deal. He is involved in recruiting and working with perimeter players at ND.

In other former bona coaching news, JVBK's Nashville Broncs are off to a hot start in the ABA. In their last game, an opposing player shoved JVBK but luckily for that young man, JVBK maintained his calm demeanor during the ordeal.

I got tickets yesterday by calling the Fordham ticket office directly. You can get the number on www.fordham.edu and follow the links to athletics and ticket center.

I expect a W at Rose Hill but am nervous about the number of treys the Rams fire up. They don’t hit them a lot BUT are 2nd in most treys made in the A10. If they have a hot night outside, combined with our troubles at Rose Hill our first A10 win will not be easy. I agree with drray's caution.
Fordham has been recently bolstered by the addition of Jacob Green a transfer from West Virginia. He had 10 pts on 4-9 shooting, 4 rbs & 3 blocks against Bowling Green. He will provide much needed help to Bethel on the boards with his 6’8”/220 size. Their previous deficient rebounding is definitely improved with this new addition. BTW, Bethel, from St Rays in Da Bronx. is a monster rebounder for his size. At just 6’5” he is the # 6 rebounder in the A10 averaging nearly 7 rebs a game. Gotta keep a body on him.
Starter Butler has missed 5 games due to an injured ankle. Not sure if he will be available for tomorrow’s game. Fordham has struggled but, as Ray points out, they are a threat if they hit their treys. They are not particularly effective from beyond the arc BUT they have thrown up 20 more than us this season. Blue is their main 3 ball threat hitting them at a .380 rate. In man to man I see Ray matching up with Fontan & Malcolm guarding Blue. Again, my main fear is the Rams having a rare big night from beyond the arc.
Fontan, their super frosh, leads them in scoring with 13.4ppg & is #4 in the A10 in assists. However he has turned it over 37 times. The rest of the team is real secure with the ball. Their greatest strength is their +3.35 TO Margin. They are at the top of the A10 in this category because they really take care of the ball. This being the case our transition points, which we rely on, may be hard to come by.
Whittenberg finally has a team that better suits his coaching style of up tempo. They will go 10 deep if Butler is back & have very balanced scoring. 5 players average between 9-12 ppg. I like our chances inside if The Professor, Grease & Hall can stay out of foul trouble. Our chances are good if the Ram’s treys fall at their season’s rate. We are in dire need of a win at Rose Hill. Hopefully on the ride home the canolies will taste a lot sweeter with a win. No doubt the Rose Hill Bona fans will really celebrate a long awaited win in the McGinley Ball Room post game gatheing. Hope to see you all there. Go Bonnies!

Plain and simple this is a game Bona should win. If Bona is improving as much as everything thinks they are they should win this game by 10 or more.
Fordham is not a good team, I don't care how you sugar coat it with a WVU transfer who I think averaged 1 ppg at WVU. I would think Bona's frontcourt should have no problem matching up with their front court who is probably one of the weakest in the A-10. Chris Bethel is an average player in the A-10. They do not have Bona killer Dunston anymore at Center so things should be much easier.
Also, isn't any team a danger when they hit 3's? You could say that about Anthony Solomon's teams who were not very good at all if they hit 12 3's it will improve their chances. Bottom line, a loss with a pro-Bona crowd will be very disappointing.

BO2….. Agree with your following statements: “Plain & simple this is a game we SHOULD win.” “SHOULD win by 10 or more.” Even though I do not share the level of optimism indicated in the win predictions by posters. “Fordham is not a good team.”
I also agree that Bethel is an average A10 player BUT he rebounds the ball better than anyone on our team & at a diminutive 6’5” his # 6 ranking as a rebounder in the A10 tells me & certainly Coach Schmidt we better keep a body between him & the hole. There is no “sugar coating” to the plain fact that the addition of Green bolsters their primary weakness of rebounding the ball. Also the return of starter & major contributor Butler after missing the last 5 games makes the Rams better.
You ask, “..isn’t any team a danger when they hit 3’s?” Of course, HOWEVER, my point is that the Rams throw up way more than most teams adding to that danger that Ray & I point out.
Your “bottom line” that a loss would be very disappointing is an understatement. I am sick & tired of seeing loses at Rose Hill over the past 8 seasons. These experiences may make me more nervous about a win than others.
Go to Tully’s and hoist a glass or two to celebrate the win we are both anticipating. It has been a long time coming.

We must win this game! We need to finally win at Rose Hill since its been years since I have seen a win at Fordham, but we need to start A-10 play hard and beat up on our Bronx friends.
BEAT Fordham!

Sounds like a good post-game plan for me WGT. Although the game isn't on TV which is unfortunate than I could just spend the whole time there. I will rely on njbona02 for my in-game commentary and I believe channelsurfing. Hopefully him and I will be hoisting cold beverages up at 9 in the morning on the way up to Bonaventure on the Binghamton area Alumni bus trip on Saturday toasting a double digit win season. By the way I told your daughter on Saturday night at a wedding we were at that her dad is one of the best bandwagon posters.

He is involved in recruiting and working with perimeter players at ND. Next time you see him thank him for setting the program back a few seasons by thinking guys like Terron Diggs and Dave Fox were A-10 caliber players. Heaven help Anthony if we ever come face to face again.

The man tried his hardest and we were still better off than when he joined us. Thank God we're through that part of our history and can look forward to luring in talented coaches like Schmidt and others (if and when Mark decides to leave us) and maybe see a few more NCAA appearances in future years.

My bad. You're right. Here I am after netting one against the Canucks in '82 Cup Finals. EDIT TO ADD: Look at Vancover's uniforms. Those pants are hilarious.

yes I will be sending you texts to update on the status and how the boys look up close tonight. I am expecting an 11 pt win. Early lead nice run by Fordham but too much Choo Choo, the professor and Hall down the stretch. We can then hoist beers Saturday morning to a double digit win season and dream of the A10 tourney
