Fro, what you seem to overlook is one very important issue. Let's say that Jan was totally, completely unaware of the entire Terrell situation. As absurd as that is, with him being the head coach of an Atlantic 10 program, we'll just consider that as the case for this argument's sake. Even if he had no connection to Terrell coming here, he should have been fired for his ignorance within his own program! What university would want a coach that would have no knowledge of his incoming recruits ON the court, let alone his players' academic backgrounds? I don't know what allegience you have to Jan, but when it comes to you and this board, there is definitely something rotten in the state of Denmark. You appear the moment Jan is on the hot seat back in 2003, and now the only time you post is in defense of your boy toy or in any chance to play devil's advocate when it comes to any positive words on the board. It is quite strange.

So you've added a third and fourth possiblity to the JVBK guilt scenario. Either:
1. He knew what went on and he lied. In which case he should obviously have been canned; or
2. He had no idea what went on even though he was head coach. That seems to be gross negligence to me and he should have been canned; or
3. He was fully aware of what was going on, but didn't have the balls to stand up to the President of the University on the subject. If this were true he should have been canned as he was hired to represent the University not the President; or
4. He had no idea what was going on, or an inkling of what was going on and the President directly told him that he should remain ignorant, or due to the President's involvement he decided he should just remain ignorant. In which case he surely should have been canned for not having the guts to stand up for what he knew was right.
Are there any possible scenarios that I am missing? If not, the guy is either dishonest, negligent, or gutless (or a combination of the three) and is not someone that most of us would deem worthy of being Head Coach of our school.

Munga you moron. Give it up about VBK. It is not a coincidence that he gets into a situation everywhere he goes. On top of being oblivious to all what was going on--which is completely false, he was an ahole and Terrell wasnt even good!
As a close personal friend of VBK, did you also know that he brought Terrell into his office shortly after the scandal hit, and tried to convince him that he owed the school money from the scholarship he "took?" Also had a lot of control over the drug habits and fighting tendencies of his son, who traveled on all the road trips, as a "manager."
Of course you know that already. This post is entitled "Jim Crowley," not after your dbag of a friend, so called coach, and sad excuse for a person, Jan.

Once again 1 individual's cry for attention has turned an unrelated thread into the "Great JVBK Debate". Can we please give it a rest?

Matrix --
I don't know that the charges are true, or false. That's why I haven't cast any aspersions on either the accuser or the accused. Your claim to "know" that the charges are false is baseless. The ethical thing to do would be to stop attacking the accuser's character and wait to see how the process plays itself out.

Alright then. You are right, it is regardless what I think. We will see what plays out, the point is that this is a serious thing to put over someone's head. I am saying if someone goes out and does the accusing, it better be right and not a time when they are weak, not at their best judgement, if they are having a bad day, etc.
Look at the Kobe thing--regardless of the fact that he had sex with Kate Faber (and committed adultery), she claimed rape, which blew it up. You can't rape the willing and it is obvious that she was out for the money. She ruined a lot of good things for Kobe and regardless of how you feel about him as a person after the whole Shaq thing, it is still a horrible thing to accuse a man of a sexual crime, such as rape or harassment.
