Andrew ejected ... anyone see the actual play?
ORLANDO, Florida -- None of the Cavaliers actually saw the ugly play that marred the end of Cleveland's 109-100 victory over the Orlando Magic on Friday night at Amway Center.
Anderson Varejao, all alone under the basket, made a layup to give the Cavs a 108-100 lead with 10.2 seconds left. As the ball slipped through the hoop, Orlando's Andrew Nicholson used two hands to shove down an unsuspecting Varejao. Dion Waiters charged toward Nicholson and was escorted away by Cavs rookie Matthew Dellavedova.
Eventually, Nicholson was called for a flagrant 2 foul and ejected. Jarrett Jack made the technical free throw to account for the final score.
"I didn’t mean to hurt him,'' Nicholson said. "I didn’t try to hurt him. I didn’t think I pushed him that hard, but it’s part of the game.”
The Cavs were trying to sort things out.
"I still don’t know what happened,'' said Varejao, whose banged his left knee on that play after banging his right knee on Orlando rookie Victor Oladipo's knee in the first half. "I laid it up, then a second later somebody hit me. I didn’t even know it was him. I’m going to watch [film] and see what really happened. But yes, I was surprised. The game was over and there was no reason for that.''

Interesting piece here from the Orlando paper about AN's diminished role lately. It's so hard to figure out how NBA teams do what they do ... especially teams like the Magic that are very likely trying to lose enough games to get another high draft pick while still being somewhat respectable and to develop their young guys. Makes my head hurt. www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-magic/os-orlando-magic-1231-20131230,0,2972024.story#tugs_story_display

The challenge is that when he plays 37 minutes he scores 18 pts per game or more - so there is efficiency there. And he would be a fine starter in the NBA, not a role player.

Just use the link, go to the sports tab, then to the Magic tab, the article is featured by Brian.

I watched my first Magic game since AN minutes fell early in December. FRUSTRATION !!! Nicholson left in the second quarter with Magic down 2 or 3 pts. #44 passed up numerous shots and looked tentative. He had 6 rebounds and 1 of 3 from the floor. In the 3rd quarter the MAGIC are now down 16 pts late in the 3rd quarter. Nicholson has not seen the floor again. A lot of 1 on 1 basketball. If they don't score on the break, their offensive sets are terrible.
Fire Vaughn or trade Nicholson, please!!!!

ANDREW got a few meaningless minutes in the last quarter with the game out of hand. I turned the game off with Orlando down by 20.
I threw over $100 away again this year for NBA.TV.

AN has so much talent and is developing very well in the NBA(we all know what a great kid he is), but he needs a new team and a new coach. The current situation in Orlando is a joke - they are sandbagging this season for the hopes of qualifying for a very high lottery pick....pathetic.

There's a difference between sandbagging and being a crap team. The Magic roster is terrible. They'd be this bad if they had a great coach.

Vaughn only plays 7 in a rare win tonight against Boston. Andrew DNP-coach's decision.

Hopefully other teams noticed his talent along the way and someone will give him a shot after his contract expires. If he is not seeing the floor at all this point AN's career is over in Orlando.

The Orlando Magic are having a Facebook contest to pick your favorite player and why. So, of course, I put in AN and said he had great potential but needs more playing time. To promote AN, "like" The Orlando Magic on Facebook today and the opportunity should come up.

3 min for AN tonight in a 98-83 loss in Toronto. Must have been tough to play so sparingly back home.
