You see a kid like Andrew Zelis opting to stay close to home and go to Northern Illinois and it gives you some insight on how difficult recruiting these young kids must be. Other than the close to home factor, why would Zelis choose Northern Illinois? Although they have been somewhat respectible the past couple of years, they have been the absolute dregs of the MAC the past 20 years. Since 1996, the team has a 194-357 record (35%) and their 4 year coach Mark Montgomery has a record of 39-84 (32%). It has been a terrible basketball program. Who really knows? Maybe we never offered him after his visit. Puzzling to say the least.

All the more reason to remain cautiously optimistic that Alexander will choose to stay close to home?

All the more reason to remain cautiously optimistic that Alexander will choose to stay close to home? Every kid is different. Being close to home was reportedly a priority but he keeps talking with other schools and picking up offers. The pessimist in me thinks he would have signed by now and each passing day is bad for us but without knowing, its just speculation. Common sense tells me he would have signed with us by now if he really wanted to, right?

The kid mentioned is Antoine Pittman a 6"3 gunslinger from Auburn H.S. If Posley can help recruit this kid this would be a last minute steal following his de-comit. This kid was nominated as Mr. Illinois Basketball and a mystery as to why much bigger programs did not jump in. Maybe a similar path to Marcus, and Posley can shed some positive light on the Bonnies and the A-10
