For those of you that don't know much about the SWAC...
It is the job of the basketball teams at most SWAC schools to fund themselves so the school can focus on their football teams. (Think: Bayou Classic) As a result, they will fly anywhere for the largest paydays.
Though Jackson State's schedule is not too bad compared to some other SWAC schools, they open the season with nine out of ten games on the road. Jackson State has tried to balance competitive games while still bringing in money. This is a stark contrast to Texas Southern's schedule that features guarantee games at Indiana, Tennessee, SMU, Baylor, Florida, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Auburn, Kansas State, and New Mexico State. Texas Southern plays 12 non-conference games--11 are on the road.
Tough to build any conference under those conditions...

I haven't seen a line, but Kenpom has us at a 92% chance to win, and us winning 70-57.

I am disappointed in our team's play so far. We are chucking it up too much. But I know that we will be a better team as the season progresses. We have a lot of newer players and it does take time to gel. Mark's teams always get better throughout the season.

What I hate about games like this is we gain very little, if anything. Even if we win our rpi can't be helped. A loss would be too awful to contemplate. Why do we schedule so many games like this? The only possible benefit could be taking more time for the team to get to know each other. We could do that with a loss against a national power and have our rpi go up.

not too impressive so far. We look like a football team with no quarterback
