o Speaking of kenpom (and at the risk of getting bd going), I notice that Bona's SOS has slipped to #331 this morning, with only 314-ranked Delaware left. People keep on saying the schedule is good... build wins against horrible teams. It doesn't work. You have to play some weak teams in your out of conference schedule; however, we usually play one team that is somewhat difficult/ we lose... The issue is the talent/ the direction that the AD/ coach have for this program. When was the last time we got a real all state player??? T. Winn maybe.. not sure.... Don't even say J. Adams (the one from Michigan)... He was a group all state player/ not a 1st all state player. If he was so good he would have been getting real offers from bigger schools. I laugh when people say he got interest. That means nothing when you don't have offers. I think people on this site just get excited that the coach is getting kids/ they look good on youtube... these are highlights.... Its a basketball team so you need to fill a team/ the guys they have to have can't be 30, so they are going to be young. People continue to say the program is going in the right direction, but are we really? You can call me negative or even BLOCK me, but we lack the kids to win games.... Getting Nicholson was lucky..... He got no interested, because of that injury before a game..... I think people need to wake up/ say yea lets go back / get a YOUNG assistant from a big program that can recruit..... People just remember Anthony Solomon... so what.... Just because it didn't work that time doesn't meet it won't work the next time.....

It may be fair to say that you can't put makeup on a pig and make it pretty. The plain fact of the matter is that the schedule is flat out horrible!
Somebody please explain to me why your two better athletes, Denzell Gregg gets 11 minutes, and Adams gets nothing again! I'm sorry, but believe athleticism trumps comprehension of the "complicated 70 offensive sets". Who in NCAA basketball and NBA basketball for that matter, has 70 sets to learn. If you recruited these kids, and I believe they are all this staffs choices, then play them, or we will be right back to summer recruiting.

I always find recruit rating talk interesting.
NJIT over Michigan Southern Texas over Michigan State UMES over St. Bona Long Beach State over Xavier
Even looking back at NCAA games: Lehigh over Duke Norfolk State over Missouri Hampton over Iowa State Mercer over Duke FGCU over Georgetown Vermont over Syracuse
There are so many different examples and so many meetings are setup in a way to give the advantage to the school with money or history. (SBU's advantage is completely lost when students are not on campus.)
The recruiting rankings mean very little. There is a ton of talent out there. People fail to realize that there isn't that much of a difference between some of these teams and these conferences. Everyone in D1 can play and there are very few guys with high school to NBA talent that will be an instant impact.

Let the athletes play instead of having them hesitate and make the "dreaded mistake" that puts them on the bench as Schmidt is wont to do all too often. And, for all of you who think the 1-3-1 is the answer- dream on - it's the easiest zone to break down. It also tends to give up too many offensive rebounds. Let our best athletes play and let them play good, solid man defense. Use the non-conference schedule to teach, and toughen, play all your scholarship guys lots of minutes each and play better teams.

And, with work, both may have a great future at Bona. Unfortunately, right now, where do they play? Neither can shoot the "3". They aren't point guards. Their ball handling is suspect. We lose something on defense when either player is out there. Jaylen is too small to play the "4", and Denzell too inexperienced. And.....Dion almost never comes out. When he does, we lose something. So, who do you take out? Marcus and Jay are.....by far.......by far......our best ball handlers/ shooters. Andell plays better defense, can get some assists, and rebounds..... Denzell and Jaylen have great......potential. That's why we have them. They are young. Give them time.

As I look at the RPI's on TeamRankings this morning I see the Bonnies at 181. As I briefly scan the list I see these: --George Mason at 182 --Niagara at 175 --Maryland Eastern Shore at 172 --Massachusetts-Lowell at 136 --Saint Joe's at 121 --Canisius at 103 I feel like the boy Abe Lincoln once described, who said after stubbing his toe that it hurt too bad to laugh and he was too big to cry. Nevertheless, I wish the merriest possible Christmas to the entire Bona organization and all my fellow diehard Bonnie fans. The RPI is very misleading early in the year. You're better off looking at Sagarin or Kenpom until at least mid January. Yes, I agree, but the question was asked about RPI, which was why I answered as I did. Our Pomeroy rating also slipped dramatically from #91 before the game to #117 now. However, it doesn't matter which one you use this early in the season as they are all based on the limited data set of our first ten games against opponents who are also just finding their way. RPI, Pomeroy and others will tend to converge as the season progresses.

I am not sure, but I think the year of the A10 title run the team was in the 150s at the start of conference play.

Don't know why we think Adams can't shoot the three. How do we know? What has he taken , one or two so far. I thought we were led to believe that the kid worked hard all summer improving his shooting. You will never know if he does not see the floor or gets yanked if he shoots and misses.

For the first time in 30 years I was at the RC for a game - brought the whole family. Sat in the front row. From my perspective the Bonnies are none of the bad things people are saying above. Posely played great, YN was getting pushed and bumped around all night - they gave up 12 fouls on him, Myers fouled out, Elliott had four and another guy had three. He still had 18 pts and xx rebounds. UMES was simply unconscious from the outside, their guards were quick but our guys stayed on them. Wright had a few questionable calls against him. Don't despair.
Interesting side story - me and another fan were livid over an early charge call against Wright and were chatting up the ref about it. The call came and then a time out. Next time down Wright bangs the same guy hard and we get a blocking foul. Now, not saying we had anything to do with changing the ref's mind but the second call was clearly a charge and it went the other way so you never know...

I think it was the last charge called in the game. To think I have you to blame . Seriously there were many drives to the basket that were clearly charges and were called blocks. I remember (white ref) raising his hand for a foul on the Bonnies and bleachers erupt, he all of a sudden drops his arm and signals jump ball.

Every once in awhile a referee gets duped into calling an offensive foul on a flop, which is exactly what happened with that early call on Dion. Usually when that happens and I know I messed it up, the next 50/50 call I have is going for the other team. When I ref a game, nothing pisses me off more than when a kid flops and I take the bait. I have gotten much better and not calling it over the years but every once in awhile you still do it.

Have you watched Jalen Adams shoot in warmups? I don't think that playing time should be be based on warmups, but watch a good 3 pt shooters in warmups and then watch Jalen. I want to see Jalen play. Just from what I have seen, the kid is talented and a "scorer". But, not a shooter. I think his lack of playing time is based on the defensive end and not on offense and I hope he is making progress in practice.

I am always getting killed for being NEGATIVE, but come on....... We aren't very good... Two HOME loses against BAD teams.... I mean WAKE up guys... I wish someone would just admit this is a mediocre team..... they don't have enough talent... You just proved you are a troll and not a Bona grad by your use of "they" not "we". Get lost.
