The Bonnies will get a test Thursday night in Duquesne who have lost three of their four games to URI, VCU and Dayton. This game is always a tough one and this year will likely be no different. Duquesne shoots it well from three, shoots it horribly from the line, doesn't defend well (by design), plays as fast as almost anyone in the nation on offense and have the potential to beat anyone or lose to anyone. I'd say I'm really worried about their three point shooting but really what the worst that could happen? They make 36% of their deep shots? We give that up almost nightly anyway so I've come to expect that. That said I guess they could make 50% and take 30 threes and then we'd be done for. Micah Mason is shooting 42% and could go off any game and Colter is shooting over 50% from three so those two are potential problems and need to be guarded all over the floor. We need to go over the top of screens and likely consider switching on screens if they come out making shots. I think most important to win this game will be transition defense, making shots (which allows us to get back and set on D) and rebounding. If we can clean up the glass issues from the weekend and make enough shots to limit their fast-breaks I think we'll be in good shape. I did my usual preview and then asked seven questions to a Duquesne Hoops Blogger about their team, program, coach and this game. Link is below. The Dukes do not shoot free throws well, so the usual hosing by Duquesne refs will not hurt so much this year.

Yup, they're one of the nations' worst FT shooting teams. Colter and Mason must just never get to the line for that to be the case. www.thebonablog.com

If we are to maintain hopes of a possible post season appearance or top 5 finish, we need to find a way to win. I agree the key appears to be keeping their 3 point shooting in check. If we do, we have a good chance of coming up with the needed road win.

The schedule gets much tougher in February, (all four of the top four -- three of them on the road) so getting this one is important.

Agree 5&23. With the tough stretch coming up, its important to get every game we can. Duquesne will be tough at home and if they shoot well we will struggle to win but I think we can grind it out like St Joes. Bottom line is they are not a very good team and we have to seize the opportunity.

Duquesne on pace to make about 15 three pointers...as you expected. This issue is going nowhere. HATE the pace of this game as it favors a high scoring Dukes win. www.thebonablog.com

Not a big fan of having Ndoye and Wright both out of the game for this long.

Will TAQQEE ever make an outside shot this year? Better question is will he take one? www.thebonablog.com
