I don't think of the move as a matter of coaching brilliance, but just keeping an open mind and not being afraid to try something different, which not all coaches are willing to do - see Duquesne's Ferry, who has stuck with a 2-3 zone for 80 mins against us despite us lighting it up for over 90pts/game - and if we should catch them in the tourney, I suspect he'll stay with it again and just figure Marcus is due to start missing. When it work, it's tenacity - when it doesn't, the call start coming for a new coach.

OK, I was slow on the Congers reference.

Taq maybe more of a Mike Davenport than Conger in my eyes.

Taq maybe more of a Mike Davenport than Conger in my eyes. Taqqee came in known for his perimeter defense. Coach called him a "glue" player, which to me says he doesn't do any one thing particularly well, but many things that coach is at the least, happy with. He does play good "D". He doesn't make many mistakes. While his shooting could improve and hopefully will, he is not afraid to take a shot. He is smaller than Conger, and it may be unfair to compare the two. I haven't seen enough of him to compare him to anyone else. But he has worked hard enough to pass Adams on the playing list, and that is no small feat considering I thought.....as many on here did......that Adams would be a starter. It will be very interesting to see his progress as a Bonnie.

What you are referring to is armchair coaching, something NO bona fan would EVER do!!!!!!!!! Besides, we have a forum full of armchair university administrators here, theres only so much after-the-fact knowledge that can go round from the comfort of our couches!! So here's your chance to have your personal Dean Smith moment and predict the Bona starters Wednesday vs. St. Louis. Edit: Sorry I meant this for oldcoach, not tasty, but anyone's prediction would be interesting. class70: I don't know enough about St Louis to make a prediction. I knew the Dukes would play the 2-3 zone and I assume St Louis plays man D. So it will depend on the offensive and defensive matchups. What ever Coach Schmidt does, he will be right if our Bonnies win and wrong if they lose. I would also like to know what others think about this game.

COULD. I have seen them a few times. They can give anybody trouble. They can also screw up at the end....which they usually do. But........if they can learn to finish......look out......

I've done a complete 180 on Taqqee. I couldn't figure out why he had the advantage over Jalen. Now I see it clear as day. He works his butt off. His efforts tonight were key to the W. He has carved out a nice role for himself going forward.
A spitting image of Jordan Gathers as a freshman.

It is the reverse of Samson.....cut off his hair and he becomes a stronger basketball player.

He protects the ball nicely for a frosh. In a few years with Jay Adams at PG and Taqqee at SG, we might never turn the ball over!

Well, if he's going to be the shooting guard of the next few years, he better learn how to shoot. His deep shots were major bricks last night. Otherwise, I thought he played good defense, went to the hole well, and went after the glass. Overall, exactly what I'd expect from a freshman getting his first real action in recent games.

His shot will come around. I think we have a great 4 year player with Taqqee. He has a nice shooting form so with some practice he will develop an adequate shot.

This is great that idris has gained some confidence going forward bc if we are going to make any type of deep run in Brooklyn we will need quality minutes from Dees, Denzel, Alston and Idris to do it. 4 wins in a row is extremely difficult without quality minutes from your bench.
